Yeah, I love it..
.. O and the stupid wife is hilarious!
Re: Family Front
am I the only one who thought this drama wasn’t that good. Everyone I talk to seems to think that this drama was hilarious. I guess something is wrong with me. ![]()
Re: Family Front
^ Depends what kind of humor you enjoy. I like stupid stuff… ![]()
Re: Family Front
^^ Atlanta, you aint alone man. Though the initial episodes [aired around mid '98] were really good, and they had Meera Hashmi and she was simply a natural for comedy.......later on the wooden Arooj Nasir replaced her and it didn't take long before the scripts went haywire and comedy turned to insanity. I was rather put off by Saba Pervez's standard over the top antics too...
Anyone remember the one where Bobby wears a burqa to get into some girl's college.........that was so cool...it was one of the episodes which had Meera Hashmi I think.
Re: Family Front
^ yeah.. hahaha

Do you remember the episode where Bobby wears a wig and plays as Huma to win the cricket match, i think that was really funny as well.
I think the episodes during nusrat’s wedding were really funny aswell.
I went to pk in december last year and the new series were being aired. They had got rid of bobby i think and was replaced by munna.
Re: Family Front
yeah, its a funny sitcom.....well, i'm just wondering where has Bobby gone off to? i havent seen him in any other comedy/drama.
Re: Family Front
Oh nusrat’s shaadee
that was kinda cute…but I always thought teen batta teen was better…they started around the same time
Re: Family Front
I don’t know her name but she looks like my mom and that alone for me makes the show even funnier .. ![]()
Re: Family Front
Sumbal (character name), real name Saba Hameed
Re: Family Front
That was the only funny Pakistani sitcom. All the rest suck big time. I really like the smart writing of Family Front especially when the stupid character took the literal meaning of some word in Urdu. Dialogues were really funny but the story was average.
Re: Family Front
I am not sure if it was late 1998 or early 1999 that this comedy 'sitcom' started playing on PTV.
I must confess that I have never seen this comedy serial, which is supposed to be the longest running sitcom in Asia. I have a very good idea about the cast of characters, and I did find a few scenes here and there to be funny when I saw something.
However, there is no doubt that it was/ is popular in Pakistan. I mean how else would a person, who was not into TV in 1998, who didn't even watch PTV at the time, and who never saw the play know about Family Front .... unless it was popular :D
I think Saba Pervaiz has become stereotyped in Family Front type roles after that play. What I personally dislike is the recorded laughter, to give the impression that the thing is being recorded infront of live audience like the american sitcoms. I dislike it because most of the jokes on which the recorded laughter is put on are not very funny, and the laughter is just irritating in those circumstances. Plus, the writers never really know which joke was more popular than the others because they are putting the recorded laughter themselves anyway.
Re: Family Front
None of the Pakistani sitcoms are recorded in front of live audience. I doubt that even the producers know the fact the laughter supposed to be coming form live audiences.
