I have a question please .. many thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts.
On activity day out when one is busy say for example hiking or just enjoying a day out with family at a forest or hilly area etc … the prayer time comes … for men its easier to do wadoo .. for women its harder … should she perform tayammum in such a situation to ensure the salat doesnt get missed?
Similarly if the area they are in is hilly, not very clean … can she do the prayer while sitting in the car?
Or should she do kazaa prayers after returning home?
**first, ALL places are paak unless you see naa-paakii…if you do see, just remove with water or if it has dried up completely, just broom it aside and you are ready to do namaaz…it’s the beauty of Islam that you do NOT need a ‘special place’ to do your namaaz.
if for some reason you are NOT comfortable because people are staring or things like that, you may do your namaaz in your car…however the car must be parked in such a way that you face qibla [if know].
secondly, if water is NOT available with a resonable effort, you may do taimum…best way to do taimum is top always carry a cake of clay with you. it’s available in market in India/Pakistan and in certain Indo Pakistani stores in the west.
men, however, should do namaaz in congregation if it’s NOT gonna cause inconvenience to others around you.
i’ve seen people doing namaaz with jamaa’at on Railway platforms thus causing great inconveniences to other users of the railways…platforms are very crowded and since people can’t walk in front of them so people have to go around them causing problems…
…here is a man doing namaaz on Ghaziabad railway station … it really says a lot if you think about it. **watch at 7:33 mark. **also, watch my city where i studied…the ONLY Muslim University in India is situated here…watch at 9:30 to 10:30 mark
How is it easier for men to do wudu?
they can walk up the hill for one...they can go to streams if there is one that usually involves downhill walk...besides, for women with all the hijaabi gear, it morte difficult to take them all off and make the vudu. that's what i think.
OP was talking about the families when they go out on OUTINGS…sometimes in the hilly areas where walking downhill or uphill on a rough surface is harder for for women with hijaab on. alrite?
with all the clothing, taking shoes off socks off , specially when you are living in a cold area ... plus if you are wearing any makeup, you need proper water to remove it all otherwise you know what happens ... so if water isnt very handy .. or you are not carrying it with you .. in that situation instead of choosng to kazaa the prayer , I asked if tayamum is ok ?

**well, some reasons you mentioned are NOT Islamic jenuine/valid reasons like make-up. If you planning to go out on an outing, better NOT wear them. namaaz ko QAZA karne se hamesha yehi bahtar hai k banda/bandi kaise bhii jaaiz tareeqe se namaaz paRh le...agar namaaz qaza hone kaa Dar ho to taimum jaaiz hai...magar, itnii derii k namaaz qaza hone kaa Dar ho, aise kaam banda/bandi kare hii kiuN UNLESS it's extreme necessity.
the basic rule is: ***a Muslim must FIT in Islam and NOT Islam in a Muslim.*
If it’s so hard why’d they go hiking in the first place?
Anyways, the makeup thing doesn’t seem like a good enough reason not to perform wudu. Bring some wipes with you if you need to remove your makeup or don’t wear any makeup at all. About taking shoes and socks off, if men can do that for wudu so can you.
MArmalade, I think you are approaching this with a very Molvi type approach .... My question is simple , if we are in a difficult area, not keen on starting to undress in front of people ... can we do tayamum instead for that particular prayer ...

hehe :D First time I've been called a molvi. But anyways, I honestly don't know about what should be done. I mean, the best thing to do is try to use water. And if it can't be done, I suppose you should do tayummum.
'Amal ka dar-o-madar niyat pr hy' Who wanna offer salah, before he/she leaves, will be in state of 'Wudu', keep 'Musalah' with him/her and gonna offer his/her prayer on the time.
We always carry an empty gallon (to do wudhu) and a sheet (to pray on) with us. Its easy for both men and women, if logistic is taken care of in advance. As the saying goes “prior preparation prevents poor performance”

molvi is male, mullaanii is female...so **Marmalade is a MULLANI**** ;) hehe**
Yes tayammum is allowed in all situation as follows:
1. If paak water is not available.
2. If making wuzu with water poses danger to your life, well being , or health.
3. If water is available but is not enough to complete the wuzu.
Tayummum and wuzu can be combined in a situation where you have an injury to your face , hand , leg , head and you cannot use water over that injury for fear of pain or aggravating it.
Now do a litmus test of your situation and see if any of those apply , if yes then you are fine if not then you have to make wuzu.
The conditions for harj ... should be employed when making your decision ...
If you are travelling more than the musafir limit then apply kasr salat and delaying prayer or combining is allowed in this case. Leave the house wearing leather socks after doing wudu ... then massha can be allowed in the areas where it is difficult to wash.
Different schools have differering views on massha ...
Best thing to do is plan your visits well in advance so you can account for wudu and prayer ... map out your journey and take provisions ... the hardest part of wudu would be the nail polish so just don't wear that everything else is a doddle, inshaAllah.
Thank you so much once again Brother Psyah for the detailed response … The thing is I am trying to become regular with my prayers … finding a place to do a prayer is not an issue … I try to do wadoo everytime I leave home … but its not possible to hold wadoo for hours and hours … specially when we are out and about … hence when it comes to doing the wadoo in public places .. hurdles come in ..
So I have the following questions:
1- I have seen a few women do the wadoo with a little water bottle but their foundation / makeup didnt come off fully… was that wadoo valid?
2- Some men and women who do wadoo before leaving home and wear thick cotton socks and then havnt taken off their shoes at all for nearly half a day .. can they do masha i.e not wash the feet or take off socks
I think these particular questions you are best to direct to a mufti … Regarding what I already knew I have said, but to comment on particulars is the job of an 'alim.
Regarding your second question, there are many hadiths (in Sahih Muslim and Sunan AbuDawud) about wiping over socks but some scholars have different opinions about it. As a reference you can read this issue.
