Fall for saree...

i was just wonerding, from where about can i get the fall for the saree…?
And yes some where in lahore?
And what about the peticoat, what material do you use?

Re: Fall for saree...

Lol... you don't buy the fall seperately, you make it while tying your saree. You can also go to a tailor and ask them to make the fall for you and put stitches. The tailor can also help you with the peti coat. The material pretty depends on you and the type of saree you have. You can use a cotton, silk, or any such material I guess.

Re: Fall for saree...

Fall material should be avalible from any fabric shop. If you have trusted darzi, ask him for the kind of material needed for both sari and fall. In anarkali there is a shop that sells laces etc who also sells ready made petti coats but they are not of very good fabric. I have both silk, satin and cotton petti coats so i think it may depend on you and what you are comfortable with.

Re: Fall for saree...

just ask your darzi from whom you're getting your blouse sewn to sew the fall and make a petticoat. he'll get the material and everything. usually from what i've seen petticoats have been made of synthetic material, something silkish.

I don't understand the Lol part by Lusi,
here in U. S. many indian saree stores, sell ready made falls (its basically just long strip of fabric of appropirate width ,lenght, and fabric), which then get hand stiched (by turpai tanka) on to the sari that you have bought separately...also ready made petti coats are sold.

may be in pak there is no need for ready made falls, as darzis can make them from suitable material and stich them on the sari...
but that doesn't mean that ppl don't buy ready made falls separately any where else

some times, saaris come with falls already stiched on them, but falls are definitely sold (and bought) separately as well here in the US as far as I know.

Re: Fall for saree...

^yeah i have seen it in sari stores.....you get the whole un-stitched sari 'pack' with the blouse..matching fall..petticoat...
I guess you can ask the stores if they have spare falls....you might find one that matches your sari..

Re: Fall for saree...

I think the falls that you are talking about are the pleats in the saree. Just tell your tailor to stitch them in. It is called an automatic sari(way easier because you don't have to pleat the material yourself, Alhamdulillah).

If you decide to wrap your own saree, once you put in the pleats, you should use a large safety pin to hold them in place, otherwise you might find your saree coming unraveled on you, and that could be really embarassing.

Good luck!
