i too never used fake nails for my functions..
for engagement i remember i did take very good care of them and they grew longer too..for everyday shine i remember i used to put those coats of shiny transparent nail polish...which is used for the top coat as well..
fake nails give more damage to ur own nails bcz of glue and all...
