I have very curly hair which I like but a lot of my friends have ghds so I thought I’d get some too just in case I fancied a change now and then to straighten my hair.
As you know, ghds are quite expensive but that’s because of all the technology that goes into making them less damaging to your hair and the safety features like power cut off etc.
About two weeks ago, I went on a really official looking website and bought a pair of GHDs which came to GBP 89 in total. Then a few days later they sent me a tracking number and I noticed that the origin was China. This worried me, as no where on the site did it say the product would come from China.
It arrived yesterday and as I suspected, the irons are conterfeit. I did some checks online to confirm it. The packaging, hologram stickers etc. all look authentic enough, but how hard is it to get a hold of something like that? The irons themselves were scuffed and looked and felt cheap, certainly not something worth GBP 89.
I’m reaaaally gutted as that’s a lot of money. The irons do work, but I’m not going to risk frying my hair with a sub standard product.
The website was www.ghdshopping.com, please don’t buy from them. On GHD’s official website there is a spot where you can enter a website and they will tell you if they have authorised the vendor: www.ghdhair.com
I’ve now started the process of claiming my money back through paypal, though I don’t know how successful the claim will be. Be very careful when parting with your money for ghds, even ebay can’t be trusted.
As my dad says: mehnga roay ek baar, sastaa roay bar bar
awww my all sympathies are with u
u know what it could have been safer to get them from gumtree bcoz on gumtree most of ppl prefer face to face selling and u could get ghds even cheaper than £80 oh well i hope u get your money back..
aww athens_bride i know exactly how u feel as im in the same situation but paypal have really done my head in. After receiving mine I found out they were counterfeit and like urs, they were from china so I opened up a dispute on paypal. It carried on for like 21 days and they finally got back to me saying u will not get a refund because the seller has provided us with proof that the item has been sent off. I then emailed them back saying the products were fake so I wanted my money back, they replied saying u can complain to paypal regarding that dispute in another email. This btw took around a month. Im so sick of it now Iv decided Im going to ring up and sort them out myself. Just hope I get my money back and same for u athens_bride!
xxx
I brought my ghds in may and i got mine from a place that i trusted as i had heard of these fake ghds.
my advise to people who want to buy ghds is always buy them from big companies and never buy used ones from ebay or any other company as sometimes they can sell u the old model and that had a fualt in it.
I hope it works out for u anthens bride :)
