Few weeks back there was a program “Faiz ki yaad mai” in the Redcliff college/Harvard.
Salima Hashmi and Shoib Hashmi were here for the program. It was a good program. There was a person from NCA/Lahore who recited some of Faiz’s poetry in perfect urdu but otherwise refrained from talking in urdu.
Well I guess its the cool-thingy. Talking in ungrazi is a cool thing for many. Ok! I don’t have a problem with that but if the program is for a urdu poet and all listners understand urdu, shouldn’t the program be done in urdu??

No in fact I agree with you on this point; surely one of the goals of such programs is the promotion of urdu--so why speak in ingrezi?!!
