What exactly is believing in Allah?

Believing in Almighty Allah is when a person say, I believe in Almighty Allah (Allah is One, not in numerical sense, but in the sense that HE has no partner), HIS Angels, HIS Books, HIS Messengers, resurrection after death, fate, whether good and bad is from Almighty Allah, the accounting, the scale, hell and paradise, all is true.

Usually when things dont workout in our favor they say “believe in God” , “Have faith” , “Have patience” etc. These are few of the phrases everyone of us have heard in the time of distress. Of course there is no boundary of difficult times that when it would end; it would? Or it will never? Again no one knows! So how come we can have faith that Allah exists, he is very close to us, listening to our prayers, feeling our pain;

We have immaculate examples of Prophets who no doubt went through hard times preaching messages of Almighty Allah and later on the Prophets and their followers had mercy of HIM.

Those things which doesn’t workout in our favor, as you wrote, I call them “Lusts of worldly affairs”. We either knowingly or inadvertently wish to live more in this world so that those things works out for us rather then paying attention towards the eternal life in the hereafter. Almighty Allah says in the Holy Qur’an Chapter 57 Verse 20:

“Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children - like the example of a rain whose [resulting] plant growth pleases the tillers; then it dries and you see it turned yellow; then it becomes [scattered] debris. And in the Hereafter is severe punishment and forgiveness from Allah and approval. And what is the worldly life except the enjoyment of delusion.”

Nevertheless, usually when things don’t workout in our favor, that is a very crucial time because the Satan try to tempt a person with falsehood to divert his/her attention from Almighty Allah. That is why we are told to “believe in God”, “Have faith”, “Have patience” etc.

he loves us more than our mothers; your mother would never let you go through any pain yet Allah says wait, have patience, go through the hard times..clear difference! Sometimes it feels like believing in God is a myth.

Prophet Isa A.S., without a father, Prophet Muhammad an orphan, both have countless blessing of Almighty Allah who is indeed loves us more then our mother. So I disagree with you what you wrote above.

This post is not to offend anyone but just asking few questions that arise in my mind from time to time. I am a Muslim, i should not doubt on the existence of Allah and i do not but still in the end i am a human being, questions do arise in my mind when i see people are suffering left, right, center; where is khuda at that time? There is never ending pain/problems; where is HE?

When people suffer left, right, center then that is not because of Almighty Allah but because of other peoples. Almighty Allah created the creation free of both belief and disbelief, and then HE addressed them commanding and prohibiting them. Furthermore Almighty Allah did not constrain any of HIS creation to either disbelieve or to believe; nor did HE create them as believers or non-believers, but rather as people, with belief and disbelief being their own act. So those who do keep commandment try their best not to cause any negative to their left, right, center but those who don’t keep commandment actually cause problems for other and that is why we people left, right, center suffering from various unpleasant issues.
