Re: Faith and Epistemology(What gives certainty to faith?)
hi Words,
thanks for starting this topic.
personally, faith would require living it out and feeling within that faith is one's only recourse to certainty in life & in relation to the world that is all around you.
the life that one has, given by Maker, is certain.
it depends which sources are you believing in, as your knowledge sources, for the basis of certainty.. religion, culture, life experiences, travel, schooling, family values, or no values, or all things negative in life, or whether the preferred path is searching still for the truth that is scalable across life span and quality of living. or is it none of it and some of it has to do with being exhausted from thinking over and over again about ascertaining this certainty.
we do know that we do not know everything and some things are hidden, by their very nature, unless they happen or the consequences as well as sequence of consequences make us feel certain that A will lead to B, or sometimes not!
pure verbal and actionable intent, principles, rules, honesty, rationality all may give way to quite the opposite - and thus one feels that the source of one's knowledge that one believed to be true, is untrue.
& there from, the whole process of believing and developing faith in faith with certainty restarts.
there are exceptions to rules, but it will help mankind to be certain of itself, before eagerly wanting or actually trying to be certain of what it believes in or would like to believe in, as faith.
faith is an entity all its own, a second person with whom one would interface, literally, to feel affinity with this other person and almost have it as a guide line to life.
rest could also include improvisation as times goes on, or times change and as people change, because certainly the Maker does not change, unless words of Maker are understood in case of true believers.
personal and universal parameters of existence, intellectual inquisitiveness, and spiritual/philosophical plain fields for homo sapiens, and their simultaneous God fearing ness - keeping end of time in mind human beings - all of it leads to the pressing question of all times - what works and what does not in life.
and that could also be used as a source for ascertaining right and wrong, their birth and the processes which sustain them as two different ways of being - right or wrong.
hope this helps.
best,
Dushwari
