** Faisal Raza Abidi asked to resign from Senate **
KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) asked Senator Faisal Raza Abidi to resign from his seat, Express News reported on Wednesday.
The request was brought forward by the party’s secretary general, Pervez Ashraf.
It was reported that this decision was taken after tensions arose between Abidi and the party.
Last week, during a meeting with the Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication, Senator Rehman Malik and Abidi verbally sparred with each other, after which Malik threatened to stage a walkout from the meeting if Abidi insisted on shouting and did not permit him to speak.
Abidi, had previously resigned from the PPP Karachi division presidency following an internal party rift in 2012.
Despite having influence in Karachi and holding a senate seat on the PPP ticket, he had been sidelined from much of the party’s decision making, having been shut out of the central executive committee.

PPP requests Faisal Raza Abidi to resign from Senate seat – The Express Tribune
The double-barreled propaganda and defence gun of the PPP — comprising two senators — Babar Awan and Faisal Raza Abidi, has been officially decommissioned. One can hate them as much as one wants for their brazen attitude, but one must say that the duo acted as a solid shield for the party when it received the heaviest blows from the judiciary and the media.
RIP Mr. Abidi.
