As a part of breast cancer awareness program, they lightened Faisal masjid with Pink color. And now some people are losing their mind for a “masjid” to be “used” for that.
What do you think about it?

Re: Faisal masjid lit up for “breast cancer awareness”
What people need is actual dissemination of awareness. Nobody would get the message from this drama. For example a women should regularly check herself that there is no new lump being evolved or not tissues changes are occurring to avoid or detect the disease at early stage.
Re: Faisal masjid lit up for “breast cancer awareness”
But when people take that masjid as a monument, whats the harm in using it as a awareness practice? Also I’m sure people would have no objection had it been green lights or white or something else.
Now here is a post coming on social media by the owner of a Pakistani page, coincidentally the same name as this forum:
*"I protest against the use of a Mosque for such a purpose.
Faisal masjid Islamabad illuminated pink for awareness about “Breast Cancer”.
Whats next? Illuminate it blue for awareness against "Testicular Cancer "? Or put banners up on Minarets for Sexually transmitted diseases such as AIDS? Or even common problem among men of “Premature ejaculation”?
Can we please avoid using mosques for “Lady parts” campaigns?
I am pretty sure a Mosque has much higher purpose than this."*
Re: Faisal masjid lit up for “breast cancer awareness”
This is very good! Mosque shouldn’t be a place just for worship. It should be a civic center for society and not just a place of worship. A true place of worship is open to helping human holistically - socially, medically etc. That was actually mosque used to be like at the time of Prophet (PBUH). Islam used to be so much more open minded and tolerant. Its been getting more and more extreme these days than it used to be back then.
Re: Faisal masjid lit up for “breast cancer awareness”
Pretty sure the Prophet SAW said that masjids are a place where the community comes together and discusses, shares and supports each other. I can’t find the hadith but will put it in when I do.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it.
