Any confirmation on the latest guys? It doesn’t sound very hopeful.
KARACHI, July 28: A spokesman of Edhi Head Office has said in a statement today that Faisal Edhi, who had gone to Badin in Edhi Sea Ambulance for rescue operations is missing for the last 22 hours. He had gone to a village, 15 kilometers from Kaddan, to save people surrounded by flood water and was accompanied by a volunteer diver Hanif Kachhi, a journalist of Badin Jamali and a local guide. He said their whereabouts are still not known and it is feared that they may perish, God forbid, and appealed to people to pray for their lives. The spokesman informed that incharge of Edhi Air Ambulance Fahim-uz-Zaman is in constant touch with government agencies for their search. (PPI) link
thanks M_S. I couldn't find anymore news regarding his disappearance; it seems to be blacked out, or perhaps there aren't any updates available..did anyone else know what happened to him..?
Meanwhile, four people who were reported missing in the floods returned Monday to a relief camp in Badin. An official of the Edhi Foundation, two other rescue workers and a local reporter travelling with them went missing on Sunday, said Abdul Sattar Edhi, the head of the organisation.
Faisal Edhi, son of the relief organization’s chief, was travelling in a boat to visit food relief centres set up by the foundation in Badin.

*A man like my father is born only once in many, many centuries. I am not worthy to kiss the dirt off the soles of his feet. He is truly a missionary and his zeal cannot be matched. But I have been given this awesome responsibility, and to fritter it away, to not give it my all would be a betrayal of everything my father has taught me and all that he stands for.

Yes i agree, but now a time has come for the Government and all charities concerned to create a National emergency and rescue response service, well trained and well eqquiped for the task compriesd of volunteers and paid government personell. This would be a great addition to our nations rescue services which at present are near to non-esistant.
A national emergency and rescue service is a beautiful idea. :k: Imagine the types of things it could accomplish…everything that the Edhi organization does, and more.
i think i will die before i see that come to fruition; it’s something that no government of ours has sensed important enough. Afterall, these are the poorest of the poorest people who will benefit - Edhi provides burial services for the homeless and medical treatment to those who can’t afford to visit private hospitals. These are the types of individuals who can’t fund our politicians’ election campaigns hence most of our politicians don’t see any value in doing anything for them. If we didn’t have the lack of political will for it, then the national emergency service with well-equipped/trained personnel would be such a useful, practical endeavor.
