Btw let’s play a little game… Take a look at the pictures and honestly tell me what version of each of the ladies looks the best, for models #1, models #2, and model #3. Just say if you liked the lighter or the dusky version of their pic okay?
To me each version of the same picture is the same level of attractiveness. How pretty a face is doesn't depend on the skin color but the facial features. That said, girl #3 is the most attractive. #1 looks too much like a barbie doll, #2 is attractive but looks like she's been photoshopped a bit.
I think lighter skin and darker skin co-relate with the kind of facial features one has, with lighter skinned people having more euro like features and darker skinned people having more native east Indian features. This probably has to do with the way different ethnicities entered and got mixed up with the Desi populace. It's no less shallow to prefer a person for their facial features than it is to use their skin color, but that's honestly how I judge facial attractiveness.
what's weird about that argument is that your avg indian dusky person has a thinner build, higher cheekbones and slimmer nose where as your avg fair pakistani tends to have maybe a not a wide nose but a tall or long one, a thin face but not such pronounced cheekbones and thinner lips which is a white girl thing.
At first I thought I'd chose the lighter version of all.
1 and 2: lighter version looks better
3: darker looks better
Either way, I concur. We often gravitate toward light skin. I believe part of it is a natural inclination and part of it is conditioning.
That said, I don't think people should have a problem if someone chooses their mate on the basis of color. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Just like height is thought to be a legitimate criteria, so is color. Being attracted to the prospective partner IS important. For some, body shape= attractiveness, for some religious lifestyle = attractiveness, for others color = attractiveness and so on.
The only problem I have with color discrimination is when it is brought up as an issue outside the fold of finding mates. There is no reason to judge your friend's daughter, your neighbor, your teacher and god knows who else on the basis of color.
she doesn’t look gori to me in most of the pictures, and some aren’t even hers. many people in pakistan (inl me) have seen her walking about in malls and stuff, and trust me, she is thought to be dark.
She looks dark in these pics from google images (3 & 4th pic)
and this:
(5,6,7th) pic, where she isnt covered in bridal makeup.

Most lighter skinned desi ppl don't have euro features tho (I mean as in sterotypical northern european features like a smaller nose), most tend to look more Turkish/Arab/Iranian than European no matter how pale they are..
Freida Pinto is obviously quite dark but her features look more european imo (her cheekbones, the nose etc.).. Someone like Kareena Kapoor might be milky white but there's no way anyone would say she has euro features, same with Katrina Kaif..
To me No. 1 looks better pale (the brown is a bit mucky looking on her tho lol), 2 looks better dark, 3 looks nice in both pics but i think I prefer her dark slightly more..
Some people look better pale, some look better dark.. as an example I think white girls can often look a lot better with a tan eg. a pale English girl who looks totally average with blue eyes can look amazing with a tan and a lot of those Brazilian models like Adriana Lima don’t look anywhere near as pretty or striking without their tans either..

I remember learning this in Anthropology, racial classifications are inherently flawed and unscientific. We think we can classify people into racial groups accurately, but quite a lot of the time it's not backed by science and different people see things differently. I think that's the case here. To my eyes, Pinto looks less euro than Kapoor, while Kaif is most euro looking.
At any rate, I'd like to close with a little cautionary note. I never rely on women's opinions of other women's beauty. Unless they are lesbians or bi, they just aren't looking at the women they judge the same way a man would.
^I do look at girls the same way a man does (if anyone wants to class that as 'bi' they can do tho that's not to say I'd act on it before anyone accuses my feelings of being haram lol)..
Katrina Kaif can easily pass off as Mediterranean lass, I don't understand why Indians love to brand her as a 'white girl'. As with Kareena, she doesn't have the typical features of North European women, but if she's ever asked to play an Eastern European gypsy girl, Asian would probably the last thing you would guess about her physical appearance.
Just check the Beauty section of GP, everyone wants to be white.
White people here want to be tan.
Twisted world we live in, lol
I think most desi folks confuse clear and glowing skin for being fair skinned. As a very common problem with most desi women is that their skin is not even toned, so someone who has dark/light dibs and dabs on skin is more likely to wish for an overall lighter hue than someone who has beautifully even toned olive/dusky complexion.

you prefer all of the models in their natural color, claudia lynxx is really fair, sheetal mallar is really the darker one and the last girl i randomly came across o idea who she is but the darker pic is her natural color.
Definitely prefer the lighter version in all 3 cases. It is clear that how we have been conditioned to look at light skin as good and dark skin as bad. I am ashamed to say this, but the darker #3 lady looks more like a " Kaam Wali Maasi", while #3 lighter lady looks like an educated person.
Do we recognize that these thoughts and believes that we have will be passed down to our children, and this ignorance will go on. We (Pakistanis) are far behind when it comes to recisism and diversity in our lives. Education systems here strongly encourage diversity in childrens learning, because they recogzine that these children should grow up to be respectful to others for who they are.
This isn't exactly a racism issue because this is Pakistani's putting fair over dark. I think it's so unfair, and it's sad when people assume that they're not good enough if they are not white....or girls who have disgusting attitudes but think highly of themselves because they're light.
