Ahhhhhh…well, the thing is, I hadnt been getting my period for sometime, so the doctor gave me birth control pills to regulate my periods. She also told i would face some side affects. Well..my skin did clear up due to the birth control, however my face broke out in dark patches. I want to get rid of this discoloration, I was wondering if Fair and Lovely would work on it. It’s not for my whole face, just patches, does Fair and Lovely actually work?
in a word, no.
Just a wild guess and I could (probably) be way off:
Is it possible that the birth control pills actually made your hormones imbalanced? When that happens, your pigmentation can get messed up and result in discolouring of skin (going lighter) or developing darker patches which can look like faint bruises. I think the medical term for this is tinea versicolour. It's like a yeast infection on top of the skin, rather than an internal problem.
Don't use anything. Go to the doctor and ask what is causing it.
You need some product that will stop production of melanin, there are various products on the market that can help up to a certain degree (not Fair and Lovely though) but you need to use a sunblock permanantely because the sun will only stimulate melanin production again and hence your pigmentation will return.
SK11 do a Lightening Fluid, which has had very good reviews.
You need to go back to your doctor and ask for some other dosage or product.
Don't apply topical stuff when you haven't confirmed the cause of the problem.
Alrighty, thanks guys, hehe, don't want to put three pounds of makeup every single day for this stuff.
