Failed States Index 2006

Pakistan and Afghanistan are among the world’s top 10 most vulnerable states. Any surprise there ?

Shouldnt Pak stop interfering in India’s affairs (read Kashmir) and concentrate on fixing its own house first ? Might be good for everyone in the long run.

Also, the authors cite India as an example of a state which has pulled back from the brink, saying that in the 1970s analysts predicted dire consequences as a result of population growth, economic mismanagement, poverty and corruption. Now, they say, India today has turned itself around and might have the edge over China (ranked 57) in the long run.

So much for the anti-India rhetoric

Re: Failed States Index 2006

sadly India does not have good bulletin boards to keep its people posting there :P They have to be on a pakistani board :D

Re: Failed States Index 2006

I am sooooooo scared:sheen:

Btw, how does it work - its fine as long as you post articles about India & we respond, but when something comes up about Pak you get a verbal diarrhoea ?

Re: Failed States Index 2006

Most hilarious part is the criteria they used, and ladies and gents one of them is earth quake :rotfl: enough to give a kick to Indians…

Re: Failed States Index 2006

Captain saab yeh post delete nahin karoge kya??? :D

Re: Failed States Index 2006

Each nation was given an overall score based on the 12 criteria:

  • mounting demographic pressures
  • massive movement of refugees and internally displaced peoples
  • legacy of vengeance - seeking group grievance
  • chronic and sustained human flight
  • uneven economic development along group lines
  • sharp and/or severe economic decline
  • criminalisation and delegitimisation of the state
  • progressive deterioration of public services
  • widespread violation of human rights
  • security apparatus as “state within a state”
  • rise of factionalised elites
*]intervention of other states or external actors
Where do you see earthquake on there ?

Re: Failed States Index 2006

They just need excuse to forget their problems.

Re: Failed States Index 2006

Seems like you post for the sake of posting, go right back at the top and click on the BBC link then do a search on earth quake… Wonderful criteria I’d say… LOL…

Re: Failed States Index 2006

Thats explaining the the sharp decline in Pak's ranking -

Pakistan moved from 34th last year to ninth in the new report - one of the sharpest changes in the overall score of any country on the list. **The contributing factors were Pakistan's inability to police the tribal areas near the Afghan border, **the devastating earthquake last October in Kashmir* and rising ethnic tensions, the report said. *

The earthquake probably contributed to Pak scoring low on -
progressive deterioration of public services

But remember, thats just one of 12 criteria :)

Re: Failed States Index 2006

I simply cant accept any report that line up Afghanistan near to Pakistan. both countries cant even be compared. Pakistan has a proper working state operations from defence to economy it is a strong country. How could one rate Afghanistan with no army, no law, no fucntioning govt department, no single rail track. countries in upto 40 rank cant be compared to Pakistan, cause Pakistan simply out perform every single of them.

so this list is just simply a prapoganda against Pakistan by few people who cant digest Pakistan doing well.

take a break, have a kit kat!

Re: Failed States Index 2006

yeah I am sure who ever picked the criteria must be a genius, a nation where there is mass starvation deaths should not be a criteria but a natural disaster is..LOL…

Re: Failed States Index 2006

The earthquake just exposed Pak's vulnerability :) Its not a criteria in itself.

Re: Failed States Index 2006

wow! genius in reverse…

Re: Failed States Index 2006

no man…no surprise whatsoever.

Re: Failed States Index 2006

Another lame thread started by an Indian with all his brothers saying Amen.

What is really surprising is that this failed state is making 1 billion people talking about it day and ngiht out of jealousy. Dont believe it, look who started this thread. Jealousy knows no bound. One spends its days and nights trawling thorugh internet sites to cut and paste such articles. Two a penny they are on internet. Do a google on India and see what you find. Look at the BBC site and the poverty articles on India and how many farmers commit suicide because of the mounting debts in this paradise. Get a life and post something sensible for a change.
