facts vs figures (economic boom in Pakistan)

Mush lover people normal use to say that they have figure that Pakistan have got economic boom
Pakistan is now equal to ala bala bala

why a layman like me unable to see the similarity between facts and figures
Do you believe that figures normally shows by Mush lover represent the facts about Pakistan economy

what we see , we have to pay sales tax on each item we buy
but the rich people don’t even have to return loans of more then 100 Arab
that make us frustated

pays are not increasing but daily good prices are shooting like rockets

they say the per capital income is more then 4 k and is good enough
is this good enough
can anybody survive for whole month in 4k

there is no electricity in PaKistan
but economy is booming , how ( strange for layman )

if these people are true , then lets us know , how a layman should statisfy that really economy is booming and their life is better then before

Re: facts vs figures ( ecnomic boom in Pakistan)

They will show ‘figure’ like increased forex, without mentioning this is due to things like increased remittances after 9/11- not the govt’s money

On the ground, things have got worse for the average Pakistani

A typical example:

‘Better off sleeping at office’

Karachi

Unannounced loadshedding by the ailing utility Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) is forcing people to shift to the residences of their relatives though they are not sure till what time their new abodes will have electricity.

“I have shifted to my brother’s place in Gulshan-e-Iqbal along with the children and its better that you sleep in your office,” Fatima, a housewife suggested to her husband on telephone. Fatima lives in Haroon Royal City Apartments in Block 17 of the lower middle class locality of Gulistan-e-Johar where there is no light since 2am Sunday night despite the fact that the KESC office is located right in front of the apartment block.

People are also being forced to migrate from one place to another because students are having their exams and children have to prepare. Migration is nothing new for Karachi but up till now people would migrate to Karachi to search of jobs or shift from one place to another due to ethnic tensions. However, the KESC has paved the way for a different kind of migration that may be termed as exodus due to non-availability of power.

I saw on geo tv few days back that kilo of tomatoes cost Rs 80. So I guess if you dont eat tomatoes you will be ok. lol

Re: facts vs figures ( ecnomic boom in Pakistan)

Everything is so expensive, prices/inflation have zoomed up, making it very hard for the average person

Re: facts vs figures (economic boom in Pakistan)

I am a no fan of Busharraf, but what you have asked are not correct questions. An economy may be booming but that does not mean 'honesty/integrity/imaan' is booming as well.

Inflation has been very high in Pakistan, it will take LOOONG time for it to go down to a 'comfortable' level (that is if we maintain the grwoth rate). They say inflation in US is very low, but tell you what prices of everything over here also are going up (as that is the only way for prices to go :( )

4k is not a 'normal' salary anymore, it might be a 'labor' salary, but most of 'professional' salaries are in 50,000-80,000 range.

Fortunately or unfortunately, electricity is totally free (almost) of 'economy', it depends on 'infrastructure' as well as how much of it is stolen. The reason of 'electricity' being shut down is to cut-down on load on power lines, transformers, generators etc. We don't have as many 'nuclear power generation' plants to meet our own needs.
