Facials

I’m inshAllah going to be nikahed in about a month and was wondering if I should go for a facial…

But I need help. I have acne on my cheeks and my skin is dry in the winter (super oily in summers though). Which facial should I go for and which is the best salon in Karachi to go for a facial. My skin is also badly tanned since I go to college. Oh and I’m 21. Is it even wise to go for a facial at this age?

Also, How many days before the nikah day should I go for the facial.

Gina, help?

Re: Facials

go for facial at least 4/5 days before the ceremony. You never know i f you breakout due to oily skin.
I would suggest a deep cleaning facial before you leave. Some time skin breakout due to impurities come out after not having facial from long time.
I am in USA and can't recommened any salon but be sure they are qualified, use high quality and right products according to your skin type with hygienic manners.
To avoid the further breakout and calm down acne tell them to use 'High frequency''for few mints.
Don't forget to take your sun block and use it religiously.
Good Luck.

Re: Facials

I am not too sure about what facial you should get, however, definetly avoid the sun/apply sunblock and if your acne is moderate to severe you need to consult a dermatologist in order to avoid further scarring and pimples. Drink a minimum of 1 litre of water a day - it will make a BIG difference to your skin.

Also do you cleanse, tone and moisturise? You need to be using a skin care range which caters for your skin in both winter and summer as you have described it's different in the two seasons.

oh totally go for a facial. I have a very good skin .. no acne .. no bumps nothing.. but i still wanted facial for softer skin.. smoother makeup.. worked wonder. You'll see how amazing your pics turn out even.
It won't hurt you to get a facial if you hadn't had it before. It'll make your skin baby skin like..
I would highly recommend Sab's if you are in karachi. I didn't get my facial from there but I went for makeup .. man .. their service was excellent. The way they treat their customers and how the customize everything to suit each customer's need. Amazing.

Re: Facials

you should go for facial.i had my first facial when i was 17..

I dont cleanse or moisturize at all. Just use normal soap on my face. :S and sometimes lotion if its super dry.

Do you need to make an appt at sabs for facial or can you just walk in for one?

hey dont use normal soup for face..better get a cleanser ,,you have to make an appointment with sabs first and yea did you decide from where you will get your nikah make up done because if you take a bridal package from sabs that would be cheaper

Re: Facials

Sabs has men though... right? Qadir or something. And since I do hijab i wouldnt be comfortable getting a facial done in front of men. :S

If u have good skin, please try a facial as soon as u can so incase u breakout it can be treated in-time before u're wedding Inshallah. Keep in mind the products spa's and salon's use may not suit u're skin and cause a reaction. If u're keen try one out asap..so incase Inauzubillah if u breakout u can treat it.

Nina Lotia and Nabila's do amazing facials.

Re: Facials

Apparantly your not recommended to have facials before the age of 25, I dunno why though??

Re: Facials

]It doesn't make sense to start facial in age of 25...Its a myth **

One should start cleanse, tone and moisturized her/his from teen age.Moms can play major roll in that and make sure the growing up kids clean their skin properly on daily basis. It will be great help to keep the kids flawless skin infuture.

A facial can be done from age of 11/12 due to the hormonal changes and extra oil secretion from sebaceous glands in puberty.
Acne starts due to hormonal changes as well as with lack of cleaning/hyegiene ,sweat or using oil based or wrong products.
.
If acne is not inflamed or the zits are dry,use a very very fine granular scrub 2/3 times a week. But make sure there is no blood/pus and inflammation. In this case see your Derm.
The key is keep your skin clean, tone and moist.A monthly deep cleanse facial keep skin soft supple and glowing.Lots of water at least 8-Glasses flush the body toxins out....Sun block is a must.

I agree with this. Age has nothing to do with facials.. its a MYTH..

As to thread starter's question about Sab's... they have ladies and maybe one or two guys.. that's it.. and dude I can't emphasize on how much the guys know. They are pro.. Infact one gives instructions to workers there as to what will look good on the bride. I understand you are a hijabi but don't fear .. lol.. if you know what I mean.

Get the package.. totally. I think they do facials few days or a week or something before the wedding and then of course your wedding makeup.

The reason why therapists suggest facials after a certain age is because steaming causes enlarged pores at a very young age. Large pores are difficult to shrink and get clogged easily with dead skin cells, sebum and grime. This causes girls to breakout early too.

The products used may not suit younger girls as well and they may react to them. Teens should only follow a cleansing/toning and mositurising routine.

Re: Facials

Man I have very large pores too (which probably explains why i break out so often). How do you shrink them?!

Re: Facials

@ Spiral: Do you mean they're gay?

In any case, I cannot take off my hijab in front of men. So I told Sabs to give me a time when they won't be around. They have SEEMINGLY complied with my request. Let's see how it works out.

Re: Facials

Pores are not windows which can be open or close.
The key is proper cleansing and exfoliation.
Mic-derm and Chem-peels are helpful for enlarge pores. Some lasers and skin Resurfacing helps .
Manual defoliant with fine granular 2-3 times a week helps to remove dead skin cells and unclog the dirty pores.
Remember some treatments are helpful to make pores less obvious but can't closed them....

^ Pores open-up when exposed to heat/steam and they tend to shrink when a cold compress or ice is applied. It's true that u can't close them completely but u can protect u're skin from under-the-skin inflamed pimples from arising by keeping u're pores sealed..so no dead skin cells, sebum. dust and grime gets in.

Re: Facials

first assess what do u need facial for? ur skin certainly needs more than a facial. do some of these tips for a clear skin within a month
get a cleanser with salicylic acid for acne control n ditch that soap.
Use Apple cider vinegar(diluted with water in a spray bottle) twice a day as a toner.
Any good moisturizer to keep the dryness away like Aveeno
Use an aspirin + honey mask once a week.
to control a break out use tea tree oil or benzoyl peroxide on pimples. that will dry the pimple fast.
if u can get an electric brush use it to exfoliate ur face atleast twice a week or just exfoliate with a manual soft brush. this will minimize ur pores.
sunscreen is a must too. buy one with vitamin A or E in it.

If on top of that u get facial atleast twice a month b4 ur wedding u might get a glowy skin.

Re: Facials

I've had friends who started going for regular facials like 1x month and their skin totally cleaned up and glowing within 4-5 months.

Re: Facials
