Facial Threading

Hi,

I have some questions about facial hair removal.

I have a lot of hair on my face. I waxed it off about three times and all three times red bumps broke out onto my face. The first two times I waxed my face the bumps went away when the hairs started growing back and my skin returned to normal (no red bumps or other blemishes). However, the last time I waxed my face the red bumps went away, but my skin did not return completely back to normal. I don’t know if it’s because I went to a different salon and the lady used a different type of wax, but since then my pores opened up and never closed. The last time I waxed my face was about 4 years ago and it took me a good 2 years for my skin to clear up significantly (Alhumdulillah).

I haven’t had my faced wax since then. I just don’t tie my hair up. However, I’m really sick of having to hide my face when I go out, but I’m scared that I’ll break out again. I can’t afford laser or electrolysis for the forseeable future and due to my bad experience with wax, I don’t want to wax again. This leaves me with two options: threading and bleaching. I think bleaching will be too noticeable on my face. I want to thread, but I’m scared my skin will break out by doing this too.

I’ve heard that applying rubbing alcohol on your face after waxing or threading prevents break outs. I’ve also heard patting your face with a cold washcloth after waxing or threading prevents break outs too. Are these claims true? Are there any other things I could do to prevent breakouts?

Re: Facial Threading

I have the same problem after threading although mine isn't that bad of a break out just a few here and there and they usually clear up the next day.....after threading i usually put some ice on my face it helps reduce the redness and the break outs. I've also heard that you aloe vera gel helps to diminish break outs tho i've never tried it maybe some one who has tried can let you know how that works out. The ice will help minimize pores therefore minimizing the break outs. You can always ask the saloon where you go maybe they can suggest something

Re: Facial Threading

After waxing or threading...wash your face with **cold **water...pat dry and apply toner...preferably something with salicylic acid. That should help prevent or at least lessen the break outs.

Re: Facial Threading

One more thing ladies...sunscreen.

When you wax or thread...you exfoliate and literally strip off the top layer of your skin to reveal fresh and raw skin underneath. Sun exposure causes breakouts.

So...wash your face with cold water...apply toner and a good moisturizer that had a high SPF in it.

Re: Facial Threading

Thank you so much for the replies! I really appreciate it.

However, I'm still curious about applying rubbing alcohol on my face to prevent break outs. Has anyone tried it? Did it work?

Re: Facial Threading

i will suggesst for breakout, first reha sugesstion is best. when ever u pluck hair wash or face with coled water not wash i will say splash and let it dry itself. and then apply good moisturizer. and whole day u will splash face with chilled water. no need to use soap.

one more sugesstion, for hair removal take egg white and honey, apply on face let it dry for 7-9 min. and then peel of or do like wax with finger. it will pluck out ur hair from face. this would be slow process bbut through thhis u will see less break out. than through threading.
