facial skin care

I’ll be needing some help here. The only thing I do to my face is wash it with a cleanser. ( I have acne) I dont moisturize because they cause facial hair to grow. So now I want to know is this enough or should I be doing something else too? I also hear alot about facials, and I had it done once in life. How do I decide if I need to get facials or not and what do facials do for your skin. So bacially can some one give me a headstart on skin care plz  thanx

Re: facial skin care

moisturizers cause facial hair?! really? I've never heard that b4. Moisturizers are really important for your skin especially if you've got dry skin. Usually skin care consists of cleanser, toner, moisturizer and exfoliation once or twice a week. Cleanser alone can dry out your skin which is bad so moisturizing is necessary. Plus good diet and loads of water is also a good way of keeping acne to the minimum :)

Re: facial skin care

pond’s cold cream at night before going to sleep

skin brightening cream with spf 20 under concealer or foundation
two things i have to have on my face

but that’s a new one about moisturizers causing facial hair, can you post the link where you read that?:hmmm: seems unbelievable

Re: facial skin care

Ponds cold cream may clog pores causing further acne. Also NISHA, shouldnt an SPF containing product be the last product on your skin? How will it do it's job otherwise?

Re: facial skin care

You should use a non-comedogenic moisturizer after you wash your face. The moisturiser will keep your skin from drying up. Otherwise, your dry skin will flake leaving dead skin that clogs up your pores and leads to further breakouts of acne.

I dunno about moisturizer causing the growth of facial hair. I've never heard of such a thing.

For acne treatment, I'd recommend the use of 2.5 % benzoyl peroxide.

Re: facial skin care

Whether you're out in the sun or indoors I suggest using sunblock, this goes-on first right after you've cleansed you're skin with a medicated facewash (since you have acne). Be sure and apply it atleast 20-30 mins before going-out though. There are many oil-free moisturizers suitable for acne-prone skin and moisturizers don't cause more facial hair.

Re: facial skin care

thanx everyone for your replies. First of all how do I find out what kind of skin I have? Is there a test you can do?

I used nutrogena cleanser. So should I then apply the ponds cold cream right away???? What about a toner where do I get it? Can you guys give me list of some good ones please.

Other than that I dont understand where does the facial fit in? What does it do to your skin, and how do I find out if I need one or not and how often?

Re: facial skin care

i have oily and acne-prone skin too,so i can completely understand you.I would say dont go in for a facial till you acne clears out, because it makes you break out more.Atleast, that is what my experiance has bee. Also,if you dont have dry skin, dont go in for moisturizer either 'cause it can make you look greasy!Talcum/loose powder has always helped my dry skin. :)

Re: facial skin care

Use a single-ply tissue and dab it all over u're face first thing in the morning, if u see an oily residue all over u have oily skin. If u have an oily t-zone u're forehead, nose and chin will feel greasy. A tea-tree toner is ideal for acne-prone skin as well as oily skin. Ponds isn't suitable for oily skin, use a light water-based moisturizer. EVERY skin-type needs a moisturizer, so don't skip it. Avoid facials for the time being because the steam, blackhead extraction may irritate u're skin furthur and cause more breakouts and leave u with enlarged pores as well.

Re: facial skin care

Maybe it will be better to take course in beauty salon, they usually have a wide range of facial services. I attend Croydon beauty salon and i’m fond of herbal repair. Skin became soft and silky.
