facial or not?

How many of you or people you know go to salons every once in a while for facials, peels, other skin treatments? If you do go, how often is it and does it matter which kind of facial or where?

I know a girl who has amazinggg bright glowing skin and I always thought it was all natural, but turns out she goes to high end salons monthly for facials and uses prescription creams etc from her dermatologist. is this a coincidence or do those facials really help?

Re: facial or not?

yeah they help but it think the polish they do on face helps even more to brighten

Re: facial or not?

I think they do work but if you want that constant glow then you have to go regular.
I do get my facials done if there is an occasion..but recently now started go regulary as my wedding is coming up :)

few days back i also used to think they do help until i went to the dermatologist who told me that we dont recommend at all these facials and skin treatments from parlors...ur skin glow has nothing to do with it..and ye jo parlor walay boltay hain that one must take regular facials, they just ask that to make their money...

Re: facial or not?

i think people go for facial to remove blackheads more than getting the glow right

Re: facial or not?

I think they absolutely work! When I was going to have my Nikah I got facials and the results turned out to be amazing..they really did make my skin glow!

Re: facial or not?

It all depends on the products used and ur skin type....try to go to a parlour that uses good branded products.....and they know what type of product should be used on what type of skin...tell them exactly what type of skin you have....specially if u have a sensitive skin....make this clear to them...as long as the facial products are good and mild....facial is not harmful....just try not to overdo it though....one in 2 or even 3 months is good enough....rest do regular cleansing at home and drink "lots and lots" of water....u will see the difference urself :)

Re: facial or not?

Facials really do help. The first few times you might break out but if you keep up with it your skin will be amazing

Re: facial or not?

It's also good to invest in creams, they really do help. Ponds regenerist is great. Laser treatments also work and make your skin look like a baby's. Fraxel laser treatments work

Re: facial or not?

i had pretty good skin alh, but got a dermalogica facial once and i broke out like crazy! since then i've always had so many clogged pores and spots...worse than when i was going through puberty :(.

Re: facial or not?

I've never had a facial in my life, but I regularly get comments on how glowy and clean my skin is. My trick? Plenty of water!

plenty…how much?? we wanna get a glowy skin too :halo:

Re: facial or not?

I own a salon , what i dont like about people that they insist on taking steam or bleach(facepolish) .facepolish is basically bleach that dry outs the sebum pouch attach to your hair follicle, thus results in dryness and withered skin. Drink plenty of water , treat your skin at night with a good cleanser or moisturizer accordingly. yet facials are also important to detoxify , rehydrate, maintain PH balance and balance uneven tone, thus adding a healthy glow.If you go to a salon ask your beautician about the products she is using ,let her show you all of them what she is using on your face. do insist on organic products .not chemicals . You will have what you want, if you follow these lines. It is quality that matters not quantity.

Re: facial or not?

yeah right facial makes the skin good and gives glowing skin. it even help u to make u young. i hv done facial from alle nora gulberg branch . it was acne whitening its was good. i got good result. i wili sugest take the facial at once in 2 months if u house wife.

Re: facial or not?

It does help, helps to un-clog the pores and if massage is done right can benefit skin. I do get facilas atleats every 2-3 months. I think once the skin starts to age, thats when one can really use fascials for skin maint. But personally I don't believe in skin polish and bleach wagerha it tends to do more demage in long run than good to the skin.
Basic facial, i.e deep cleansing, exfoliating, moustorizinf IM is good for healthgy skin.

hi girls

what a fab topic, i really need some advice. I've made a silly mistake on my face. the other day I stupidly used silkymitt (like sandpaper) on my face (sides) thinking to just rub down a few hair but it backfired on me! ive got really sensitive skin and theres a patch now thats all dry and flaky and peeling off (really sore underneath that) but Ive got an appointment for a facial on thursday and its my first time so i dont want to make it worse or anything

should i avoid the facial then?

thanks xx

Hi caramel,,

i wouldnt recommend a facial just yet, i would wait for a couple of weeks and let your skin heal (the sides where u have rubbed with silkmitts).

wat i would recommend thogh is to moisturise your skin especially the sides with a Aveeno Cream it has no perfume or chemical which reacts to sensitive skin.

Re: facial or not?

In the West they say facias are more for pampering and realxation as opposed to Indo-Pak where they sa it makes a difference to the skin. I agree with the Indo Pak view. My 60 year old aunt started getting monthly facials from a nearby salon in Karachi and the result was very good. That sold me on facials.

hi pinkiez

thanks for the advice, luckily i'd bought Aveeno cream earlier.

i've cancelled my facial appointment. can't believe i was so stupid lol

NO worries at all, we all like to experiment with our skin, but try not to do anything out of the norm on your face thou... as it is quite a sensitive area..
