Re: facial hair due to PCOS :(

facial hair is due to PCO ...and if u have PCO ....there are chances of u getting the hair again ...the only alternative is to go for laser hair removal .......my friend has pco.......she is on pills for 6 months ....her skin get clear and hair reduce but the chances of ur hair gone forever are nill....depends how your pco IS .....She has mild PCO....and she takes diane 35.....i have noticed her skin has really gotten clean and clear......she is too happy about it ....but yeah she has done laser hair removal......and she says that while i am on pills i wax my face ....the chances of the pimples coming are less......coz diane 35 help with pimples too....
hope this has helped......and get ur face waxed by a pro...:)

Re: facial hair due to PCOS :(

and as ur matter is about conceiving ....talk to ur gynaecologist about it ....:)....PCO patients should be always inn touch with their doctors......best of luck

Re: facial hair due to PCOS :(

Other than laser....any other remedy???

Re: facial hair due to PCOS :(

face waxing or threading ...

Re: facial hair due to PCOS :(

You need to ask your doctor if you will regain facial hair AE. Did you have excessive facial hair before you went on the pill?

IF they do start coming back the best thing is to do nothing. Any good Laser or electrolysis clinic will ask if you have hormonal imbalance before treating excessive facial hair because you won't have lasting results unless it's under control. If unmanaged PCOS is stimulating new follicles, it will keep doing so, you would only ever be getting rid of current hair.

I would not recommend root removal (threading, waxing, plucking) with a hormonal problem (unmanaged). It nearly always results in thicker, stronger, more deeply rooted hairs. The same can happen with Laser. Unfortunately, it's really common that women who started getting excessive chin hairs because of PCOS and then started root removal ended up with it almost beard-like, in thickness and density.

The only one I would recommend is electrolysis. Again, it would only get rid of current hair (need hormones balanced to stop new hair appearing) but unlike Laser there is no risk of inducing growth of finer hairs or strengthening the follicles.

Otherwise, shaving is appropriate. I know it doesn't sound very nice but it's the only method that doesn't affect anything.

both my sis and i have PCOS, both have totally different hair probs, hers was very similar to yours, lots and lots of facial hair, to the point that her DR sent her for laser treatment on the NHS!, after having her 2 kids she has now MA got such clear skin its unbelievable, but she had loads and loads of sessions of laser

my problem is loss of hair!!!, i do have some facial hair, but not really enough that warrants laser, i just thread every now and then.

Re: facial hair due to PCOS :(

^clothesmad - I assume she is taking her medication to keep the PCOS under control?

ok, i thought i had pcos a while ago, before i got married, because i had facial hair and acne and weight gain and all...so was sure i had pcos...and stupidly was too scared to get it confirmed.so i went for laser anyway, thought might as well. hardly any hair now, only on chin, because thats the last place it goes from, as its the most stubborn area, i had 11 or 12 sessions, and then i fell preg and had all my tests done and alhumdulilah dont have pcos however i can tell you that the laser worked wonders.....people with pcos....as the lady had told me when i assumed i had it, takes alot more sessions for the hair to go...maybe even double...but its worht it.

i didnt do waxing either, cos of sensitive skin and acne prone....and threading was too harsh too..

laser really is the best option am afriad.

Re: facial hair due to PCOS :(

^It's Laser-101 - stubborn hair is the easiest to get rid of with Laser. It's the finer hairs that are more problematic and Laser's inability to get rid of them is why it's termed "permanent reduction".

If the chin hair didn't go in the beginning, you can have 20 sessions and it still won't go.

And you don't have PCOS so it's a completely different scenario. If you did have PCOS and it was left unmanaged there is no guarantee that the Laser would have lasting results as the hormones would continue to stimulate new follicles.

Re: facial hair due to PCOS :(

Angel Eyes, I know a few friends who have PCOS and laser hair removal worked amazingly well for them. I think you should definitely try it.

Re: facial hair due to PCOS :frowning:

i carried out the laser treatment for my chin and upper lips when i was on diane 35…its just im too scared now for my “cheeks” hair…although they are fine abhi…but u never know…wen this “harmonal imbalanace” comes into play :vivo:
lets see…what happens…hoping for the best

when i went to the treatment place, she told me , because i wrongly assumed i may have it, that she had clients esp who suffered from pcos....and thats why laser was important for them, and it took agesssssssssssss but it did reduce hair atleast 80 to 85% for them but it took atleast 24 sessions, now one session normally is in 1 month, so thats 24 months....i did a course of 12ish over a 10 months i think i rushed it, for my wedding......i guess i shouldve carried it on..:

BUT ITS expensive..so another reason i had to stop...:

Aw, try not to worry about it! There is always good old threading to sort you out. Your hormones should calm down when you fall pregnant as well.

Re: facial hair due to PCOS :(

@nadz - nah. i've yet to meet a laser tech who knows what they are talking about. i roll my eyes when i have to listen to my own, the only good thing is that she does what i tell her to, rather than dictate to me. 24 sessions is way too long (they just want your money) and 1 month is too short a period between them (again, they want your money). if they do it properly (and if it's going to work for the client in question, coz it doesn't work on everyone), you can be done in way, way less.

ahhhhhhhhhh no way, damn,..:, she was veryyyyyy nicely clever lady, very very nice, but very very sharp and she would alwyas compliement you first before coming in with a but you need another session........

thank god i ran off to get married, and then came back and thought it wasnt even a big enough deal to fork out so much, so i stopped and now stick to wax strips for the chin.....she keeps calling me to see how im getting on and if theres anything she can do for me`

LOL! your stories are always the best (sorry you spent a lot of monies though).

Re: facial hair due to PCOS :(

I have to join on this.. Have so much hair on my jawline and on chin and under my chin

Has anyone got hair on the stomach as well.. I got diagnosed with pcos and have been given dianette

Re: facial hair due to PCOS :(

Hey, been in the same sitaution...I was on Diane for 2 years for acne, and then for year nd half as a contraceptive... was bleaching facial hair all this time, but now that ive stopped it i tried wxing...and im extremely hppy with the results. I did get small spots asfter wazing but they went away in two days, and it hasnt rectiviated my acne...As far as lser is concerend, i was told that people with PCOS cannot be guaranteed success as the doctors cant predict the effects of the hormonal changes fully...
