I can relate to your sis =) I deactivated my profile about a year after joining fb… it was liberating for sure. For me it was more to do with the fact that I’m a really private person and I guess I felt uncomfortable with how public and open fb is. I know there are privacy options where you can limit your profile to others, but that seemed like too much effort for something that I didn’t really want/need.

I don’t need fb to keep in touch with anyone… I’m not close to anyone overseas (who I wouldn’t see or something), my small bunch of closest friends all live 5 mins away from me and I see/speak to them on a regular basis and I live with my family. I’m happy with my close-knit circle of family/friends AH. Most of the people who were on my “friends” list (from school/college) became pretty much just “FB-friends” and being cut off from them is definitely no loss Those who were more than that, are still in touch with me.

I have been off FB almost a year now. And certainly don’t feel the need to ever go back.
