Re: Facebook is Haraaaaaaaaaaaaaam!!!
it may not be haraam but better stay away from it for your own safety.

^^ i always imagine you as Hijabi girl :@:
Niksik or myself?
No, I don't wear hijab. However, I have great respect for the practice and for those who adhere to it sincerely and properly :)
No, I don't wear hijab. :)
aww., what a relief..
Re: Facebook is Haraaaaaaaaaaaaaam!!!
I don't wear it either RV, and I agree with you 100%.
Fb is full of stalkers and pervs and theres so many other things haram to focus on
then don't "focus" on those other things. Don't blame technology for ppl's behavior.
The lady just anounced it's haraam due to the possibility of engaging in an exchange of pictures with na mehrams. I agree, but I also am aware of the privacy settings etc. But to say that because FACEBOOK in general is a haraam concept and all those a part of it are committing gunaah is a bit extreme eh?
Alcohol is haram. Is being in a setting where alcohol is served haram? For example....desi wedding with open bar? Being in a restaurant which serves alcohol?
^Should you avoid these settings all together or should you use the brain and conscience that Allah blessed you with and do what you know is RIGHT in such a setting?
See what I mean? No, I don't think being on facebook is too bad.........but it also depends on how you conduct yourself on that site. If you conduct yourself in an improper manner.............you can't really blame the site then can you? You have to accept responsibility for your own actions.
You can opt to 1) not put your picture up 2) make your profile visible to only certain people 3) not accept friendship requests from people you don't know (as some individuals like to do), etc. There's much that you can do yourself to keep out of harm's way :)
Your friend should chill. I know someone who tries to follow every Islamic rule to the T. And she's made her religion so hard for herself that she gets frustrated and doesn't remain consistent, makes blatant contradictions, and even violates the most simple of rules.
Alcohol is haram.
only excessive amount !
aww., what a relief..
Kya????? Firenze, why would it/should it even make a difference to you whether I wear hijab or not?
Re: Facebook is Haraaaaaaaaaaaaaam!!!
pppuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuukkkkkkkkkkkkeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
just wanna puke - I think I am no longer a religious person :(
people carry this on like crazy.
what's funny is my kids class - there is an another muslim kid.... and he always tells my kid that's simply funny. obviously his elders teach him about our customs and so poor kid comes out in class and "practices" making it look like we are the "oppressed" - we must not do this, not do that, not not not not not not not not not not
so there are soooooo many NOT's that you can either chose to be religious or chose not to be.
I think can no longer call myself a religious person.
I don't buy it, .. i am using facebook from its very existence. Their are 37 people on my list, 33 are family members. I found it a great tool to communicate and be in touch with relatives.
I think it depends on us, how we are using facebook or internet as whole !
the feeling of being stalked from arises from u not knowing who might be viewing ur profile . i aint a big fan so i dont use it much
You can limit your profile. Simple as that.
i do
then don't "focus" on those other things. Don't blame technology for ppl's behavior.
well, that ladys view was since FB makes ur pics viewable to na-mehram one shud be deleting the account. How abt not keeping pics at all?
that lady sounds like dont let people know ur existence in this world.

Wrong, in Facebook the privacy features are one of the best available. If you are not using them, you can't blame fb for that.
Re: Facebook is Haraaaaaaaaaaaaaam!!!
FB is not haraam, its how you use it determines whether your act is or not. Communication is not haram in islam, social interaction with in limit is not harram, but if we start communication in vulgar ways with opposite sex, that becomes haraam.
Getting in touch with family is one aspect of Facebook, other side is people pretending to have babies together and then extreme is "PROFFESIONAL FEMALES" using facebook to promote their "BUSINESS". Now that is haraam, innit?

Re: Facebook is Haraaaaaaaaaaaaaam!!!
so just like that NET is haram aswell...
How can it be haraaam, its wht u use it 4 that cud make it haraaam, i use it to keep in touch with family and friends, not as a dating site!! ![]()
Re: Facebook is Haraaaaaaaaaaaaaam!!!
As many have all ready stated, the whole debate centres around the fact how you use Facebook or any other networking site.
Intention (niyaah/niyaat) is one of the most fundamental aspects of our religion. Having a clean heart and having good intentions is what is encouraged in our religion. If your intention behind going on a networking site is to do ‘bad’ things (again what is ‘bad’ is relative but I would categorise things like openly flirting/flaunting oneself or using it to cause harm to others as ‘bad’ with regards to such sites) then yes it could be deemed that it is haram. However, if you are aware of your actions and how to conduct yourself even online, then there is no haraam in it, i.e. by restricting profiles, conversing only with family and close friends etc and not adding random people etc.
Sometimes we forget that Allah (subhanatallah) is omniscient and omnipresent, therefore our behaviour, regardless of our situation, will always be watching over us.
Before pointing fingers at one other and acting holier-than-thou, we should keep ourselves in check. As Baba Ali says, the ‘haram police’
These are those people who are the first to point fingers but have no proper justifications or do so without realising one’s own actions.
Re: Facebook is Haraaaaaaaaaaaaaam!!!
i use it to check otu guys, so yeah facebook is haram
Re: Facebook is Haraaaaaaaaaaaaaam!!!
I'm not on facebook anymore, because I got bored of it and found it to be pointless! But I don't think it is haraam, because NOT everyone is on there to attract non-mehrems with their pics. The lady was wrong to have assumed that. I find it amazing, how people declare things haram/halal according to how they think/feel.. don't they get scared, in case they may be wrong? I would be.
Me too ![]()
