Aaarrggh this oily skin is really getting to me now. I’ve tried a multitude of oil control face wash and moisturizing products. the clinique moisturizer I use now has improved it somewhat but I still get an oily t-zone
Does face powder mattify skin? Can you get colourless powder that just mattifies the skin and nothing else? How long will the effects last?
arg, i closed the window half way through a reply.
firstly, i would suggest that you don't use oil control products as they tend to dry out the skin making it produce more oil later. just use products for normal skin and an alcohol free toner before moisturising.
Blot paper is the best thing to mop up oil during the day. It's the same stuff whether you buy the cheap ones or the expensive ones. You can also use a powder after blotting to freshen the make-up again. Mac Blot Powder is pretty good and has no distinguishable colour (although it comes in a few shades); it used to come in both pressed and loose form.
Ugh T-zones! I have tried everything for mine and unfortunately our oil glands just do not stop secreting them. But the good news is that as we age, we tend to produce less oil.
For the time being, I carry pressed/loose powder EVERYWHERE i go and I touch up whenever necessary because i cannot stand oily skin.
hmmmm blotting paper is a good idea but its more to clear up the oil after its appeared... I assume that if I use powder it'll absorb the oil as its being produced... no?
what's a good powder to use which is portable? I've heard that loose powder is better than pressed - trumour?
^nah, if you have a oily t-zone, it's gonna get oily eventually no matter what you put on there. powder will slow down it's visibility on the skin but it will build up eventually and you will need to blot and touch up.
I suggested mac loose blot powder. you can buy small powder jars and transfer a little into one of them - perfect for your handbag.
i really like Estee Lauder's Double Matte pressed powder. it does a superb job of keeping your skin oil free for hours. and blv me, i have the OILIEST skin you've prob ever seen. i usally get oily within 15 min of applying makeup, or going outside or evening sitting at home watching tv, lol. this poweder is amazing and a lifesaver.
another i really like (my second best) is the Clinique loose powder. this one i voted second best because i cant take is places with me as its a loose powder so its messy.
