In the wake of the events since 911 and even more recent in Bali, it is
ever more important that as Muslims living in the West we stand up to the challenge now before us. That challenge is to show the truce face of
Islam which has been damaged by the badge of innocents being killed in the name of Islam. This should not just be because of recent events, which may have triggered my reminder email now, but also should focus on the innocent Muslims who have died in 911 and Bali as well as those who are dying on a daily basis in places such as Chechnya, Palestine and Kashmir, just to name a few.
Those of us in the professional ranks have a duty to (if not already
doing so) to engage our Non-Muslim colleagues in dialogue to explain to them the true meaning of Islam, the foundation and fundamentals of this faith, the true meaning of Jihad (struggle for the sake of Allah), and how religion is being used to push political agendas.
You dont need to be a scholar, just a simple and common sense approach is required. If the laymen knows what the face of Islam really is like, then we will win the support of not only the general community, but be doing an invaluable service of Da’wah in the same process which will win the support of Allah(SWT).
How can we expect justice for ourselves if we are unjust? How can we
expect success in all our endeavours when we disobey the commandments of Allah(SWT)? When are we going to learn that our greatest enemy is within us and when we conquer that enemy we will be already on the path to Falah (success) Insha’Allah.
Think about it…what have you done to promote Islam today?
