Fabric Question again ! Lawn !

So many eons ago when I bought lawn , I hated it coz if not starched every single time , it sticks to the body and I hated that about this fabric. Since then I have hardly been in the pakistani fashion market. Until recently when I realized almost every freaking design I like is on a Lawn fabric !

So I want to know if Lawn has improved over the years or do you still have to starch it heavily for it to maintain a formal look? actually , is it a considered a formal wear at all? what is crinkle lawn ? what is the most stiffest lawn available in the market?

Thanks so much for all your help

Re: Fabric Question again ! Lawn !

have you tried Malai/butter lawn. it does not stick to the body. its very soft and thin kind of texture, almost like silk.

Re: Fabric Question again ! Lawn !

Butter Lawn sounds yummy lol .. I havnt come across it but will look into it , thanks so much :hugz:

Any other recommendations as well please? is lawn a bad choice if one is allergic to starch?

Re: Fabric Question again ! Lawn !

U can try cotton lawn mix becoz I also dont like pure lawn it gets stick to Skin which not look good. Butter lawn is also very good for both summer and winter. If lawn is of good quality then I think it will not create prblm.

Re: Fabric Question again ! Lawn !

You are right, years ago lawn had to be starched and I had to look really hard to find the wash and wear kinda lawn. But now, the majority of lawns are wash and wear. Enjoy. Gul Ahmed is non starchy and so is Karisma and Sana and Safinaz.

Re: Fabric Question again ! Lawn !

Thanks Eastern, I buy online , so cant feel the material until after I have bought it. I will keep an eye on Sana safina, Charizma and Gul Ahmed Lawn collections. Is there a specific name in Lawn that I should look out for? like they have butter lawn and normal lawn and what not ..

Re: Fabric Question again ! Lawn !

I prefer nishaat nd gul ahmed

Fabric Question again ! Lawn !

Gul Ahmed lawn is best. Also be wary that lawn that is released in Feb/Mar can be of slightly thinner material, thus, transparent.

I recently got Cambric Lawn/100% cotton stuff frm Gul Ahmed and it is amazing as it wasn't as thin as the earlier months' lawn.

That's my opinion and experience. Do get more inputs from those who live in Pakistan and visit bazaars often. :)

Oh and since you haven't worn lawn for so long, I suggest Khaadi's stitched suits. They are of great quality. Some have embroidery as well and chiffon duppatay.

Re: Fabric Question again ! Lawn !

I look at lawn pictures online as well. Then I tell people to buy them for me in Pakistan. None of the Gul Ahmed lawns were the starched kind. Infact, all of the lesser quality lawn joras ( the no name brands) have also been starch free. If you are looking for a thicker material. Then the midsummer lawn collection by all major brands would do, but personally I do not like those. I wear shalwar kameez at home so I have a wide variety of lawn joras. I wear slips under a lot of these too. Swiss lawn is definitely not starchy but it's more transparent than the rest.
