Its just a prototype.. Might not make it to the production line.. As far as I know according to the last news I heard...
But some of the technology used in the car might and probably will be used in other cars produced by Mercedes.
Some specs and a few facts about the car for you:
- F400 Carving is so named because its outer two wheels lean into the corner in a similar way to skiiers with carving skis lean their outside ski inward to corner.
- As part of something called active camber control the car's wheels tilt inward up to 20 degrees in turns. (The lean of the vehicle's wheels during cornering calls to mind a skier's graceful sway as she slaloms down a mountain.)
This enables them to absorb more lateral force, giving the car's body up to 30 percent more lateral stability and allowing for a g-force of 1.28. Current world-class sports cars pull around 0.95g

The F 400 Carving is a vehicle packed with dynamic systems designed to give the car enhanced active safety & dynamic handling control. The F 400 houses a new system that varies the camber angle on the outer wheels between 0 and 20 degrees depending on the road surface. Used in conjunction with newly-developed tires, it provides 30 percent more lateral stability than a conventional system with a fixed camber setting and standard tyres. This considerably enhances active safety, since better lateral stability equals improved road adhesion and greater cornering stability.
Active camber control boosts the research vehicle's maximum lateral acceleration to 1.28 g, meaning that the concept study outperforms current sports cars by some 28 percent.
The active camber control in the F 400 Carving paves the way for an equally new asymmetrical-tread tyre concept. When the two-seater car is cornering, the outer wheels tilt inwards, leaving only the inner area of these tyres in contact with the road. This area of the tread is slightly rounded off. Meanwhile both the tread pattern and the rubber blend have been specially selected to ensure highly dynamic and extremely safe cornering. When driving straight ahead, however, it is the outer areas of the tyres that are in contact with the road. These areas have a tried-and-tested car tread pattern, offering excellent high-speed and low-noise performance. Two different concepts therefore come to fruition in a single tire, thanks to active camber control.

HSK, You know the accord's new model that u showed few days back?!?! Yes!!!! that thread has a picture of new 2003 accord coupe which is exactly the copy of SLR series of Mercedes. I am pretty sure you should be able to find both the cars on the net. But just so you know "there is no (mark my words "ABSOLUTELY NO") comparison of Mercedes to any other car maker except for KOIENG (which is another car maker - jointly ventured with BMW and Mercedes). So the bottom line is Mercedes is the trend setter so does the BMW but both of them are different in various manners. Jap cars are good by there is a long way to go...;)
REMEMBER.....McLaren....Yes the 1st prototype of that car was a joint venture of three big compnanies namely Ital Design, Mercedes and BMW....Hmmmmmm....pretty interesting haaan!!!!!
