The F1 returns to the US after 9 years of absence over the coming weekend. Shue and Hakinen will be going neck-to-neck as former trail latter by only two points in the Driver’s Championship standings.

S fans treated to F1 TV - The inaugural US GP at
the new Indianapolis circuit will be covered extensively
in the American media.

Although US F1 fans often have trouble finding the
races live depending on which state they live in, two TV
networks and the Indy Racing Radio Station are
covering this weekend’s race. Between Fox Sports Net,
Speedvision and radio, motorsport fans will find more
than 20 hours of coverage.
The TV networks will provide live coverage of Friday’s
free practice sessions, qualifying on Saturday, and
Sunday’s race, complete with a one-hour build up
show. A number of former British F1 stars are involved on the commentary teams.
Fox has Le Mans legend and former Ferrari man Derek Bell, while Speedvision has
Derek Daly, once of Williams, and Seventies McLaren driver David Hobbs. In
contrast, British fans without access to digital TV will have to make do with ‘as
live’ coverage of the race.
Due to the race’s 8pm start time, ITV has decided to move the live coverage to its
digital-only ITV2 channel. For non-subscribers the race will be shown at 10.45pm.
Qualifying is not live on either channel, so fans will have to wait until 11.25pm on
Saturday night to get their first glimpse of the action from the States.
BBC Radio Five Live will be providing full race commentary from Indianapolis, as
well as regular reports from practice and the race. The station can be found on
medium wave at 909 and 693.

Friday Free Practice One: 5-6pm Free Practice Two: 7-8pm
Saturday Free Practice Three: 3-3.45pm Free Practice Four: 4.15-5pm
Qualifying: 7-8pm
Sunday Warm-up: 3.30-4pm
Race: 8pm

Believe me yaar.. once to you live in Indy, you'll know what I mean.. It gets worse!!
The reason is simple; cuz F1 is returning to the US after 9 years and happens to be one of the tightly contested races as far as the point standings are concerned.
As a die-hard F1 fan, I am glad that it has been given vast coverage in the media. Now, those who follow F1 would love every minute of it, and those who don't watch F1 would think otherwise.
I wish F1 had much as popularity as Nascar racing here in U.S.
