F=MA or E=MC2

Between Newton and Einstein, who has changed this world more through his theories? What is your take on that?

Re: F=MA or E=MC2

Will think about what you wrote but for now:

Read this somewhere......
Physics would be much easier if tree had fallen on Newton's head instead of the apple runs out of thread

Re: F=MA or E=MC2

If I react to your answer then I am only validating Newton's 3rd law.

Re: F=MA or E=MC2

I can see farther because I am standing on the shoulders of giants.

enough said :snooty:

BTW Lagrangian and Hamiltonian mechanics are used more then Newtonian mechanics.

Re: F=MA or E=MC2

By that measure, it has to be Newton then. Coz Einstein built on Newton’s

Re: F=MA or E=MC2

Real Human beings(mathematicians) are like ants. Little by little building on each others work.
And humble like ants too.

Its only "scientist" who build every thing on mathematics then brag and compare...

Re: F=MA or E=MC2

I think you are taking too much credit away from physicists and giving too much to the mathematicians. Newton for instance pretty much redefined calculus to theorize some of his work. Had he relied on the mathematics of his time, we would not be knowing the laws of motions as we know them

Re: F=MA or E=MC2

Perhaps I am wrong, but I consider them both, Newton and Einstein, mathematicians.

Re: F=MA or E=MC2

einstein for the inventing a hole in brad and the making the bagel. newton for apalpie

Re: F=MA or E=MC2

Newton started the process. So more credit goes to him. He was the Gavaskar to the modern day Warner.

Re: F=MA or E=MC2

This is a bit off topic but once I attended a lecture of a Physics PHD and he stated that the highest physics class he had to take basically said, the universe bends itself in any way you perceive it to be.

Re: F=MA or E=MC2

The sell some awesome bagels

That was one heck of a PDA

I dont get it. Was he saying that its all in your mind?

Re: F=MA or E=MC2

I think he was saying that despite all the laws and explanation, the scope of our understanding is very limited and scientists are finally coming to terms with that it might not actually be what we are making it to be.

Re: F=MA or E=MC2

Agree with others. Newton changed the world and Einstein built on Newton's work. Can I just say I like Tesla the most?

^ I love model S

I agree, but haven’t the pretty much agreed that our universe is a positively bent, means will always keep expanding - unless i got it all wrong when u talked about the bending of the universe

Re: F=MA or E=MC2

Perhaps this will clarify it further. Basically we are being played, the only reason atoms behave the way they do is because that is how we understand them to behave. That is not to say, what we are seeing is not true. It is true, for example if we believed that there was a universe where Newton's laws did not apply then by all means there will be a place like that. Whatever we perceive, universe will act accordingly. It's a fascinating point of view but is still pretty hushed in the science community. At least, that is what I understood from his lecture.

Re: F=MA or E=MC2

Was watching the May 11 2014 COSMOS show. Faraday showed the interrelationship among electicity magnetism and light. And Maxwell put his concepts into mathematical equations.

Thus paving the way for Einstein.

Re: F=MA or E=MC2

This seems like a bit of a stretch. So if we perceive the earth is flat, will the earth, a subset - however small - of the universe, be flat, thus a acting according to our perception?

Re: F=MA or E=MC2

I honestly don't know much about this topic besides a 5 minute interval from an hour and a half lecture. I agree, seems kind of a stretch when you think about it that way, will have to do more research on the topic.
