Eyewitness identifies MQM's Umair Siddiqui in killing of Rangers official

KARACHI: **An eyewitness on Monday identified Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Umair Siddiqi as the main culprit of the killing of a Rangers man. **
An eyewitness pointed out Siddiqui as the man who killed a Rangers man during an identification parade before the East District judge. The witness, whose identity has been kept secret, recognised the shooter thrice.
Siddiqi was arrested for killing a Rangers man in the Mosamiat area of Karachi in 2010.

Rangers carried out a raid on Nine Zero on March 11, arresting MQM workers and seizing arms found inside the headquarters. Siddiqui was presented to the anti-terrorism court March 12.
The Rangers statement described Umair as a ‘notorious target killer’. “On the directives of Hammad Siddiqui, a member of the Karachi Tanzeemi Committee of the MQM, the accused [Umair] formed a team of 23 target killers affiliated with various units of the party,” it said.

“Under Hammad’s orders, this target-killing team took the lives of some 120 rivals of the MQM in Karachi including then MQM-Haqiqi leader Amir Khan’s nephew [in 2011] and former Pakistan Peoples Party senator Faisal Raza Abidi’s guard.”
Umair Siddiqui had also admitted that a party sector in-charge set the Baldia factory ablaze in 2012.
