OK, I know this is probably a really stupid question but here it goes anyway.
Most of my eyeshadows are brands that come with sponges(Lancome, Este Lauder, Clinique etc.). Now I only have a few eyeshadows from MAC and of course, MAC doesn’t come with sponges. You have to buy brushes for MAC.
I love MAC since their colors are so vivid and would love to get more shades from them.
Those of you who have a lot of MAC eyeshadows or generally use brushes to apply eyeshadows, how many brushes do you have? Do you have one for every color? Do you just have a few and wash them after every use? Also, for touch-up during the day or at parties, do you take the shadow/brushes with u? Doesn’t that get cumbersome?
Right now I only have 4 shades from MAC so this hasn’t been an “issue” for me…but since I want to expand my “collection”, I’m not sure how this whole brush thing works. If only MAC would come with those darn sponges!
^ i have four brushes from MAC, and their brushes are awesome! i don't like using sponges for eye shadows, you can't blend very well with them. you don't need a brush for every colour, i only have 4 brushes from MAC and that's all you need. you can wash them with a lil shampoo mixed in water.
yaaay finally some fun talk. so i have about three brushes just for eyes..and they are wonderful. one is for smudgin, one is wider and thus for base color, and the third is smaller and is for second color application. i wash them often…but that’s just my habit with everything. i dont think its cumbersome to do makeup or carry this stuff…its part of being a girly girl, its fun and should be enjoyed:blush:
OK, but do you wash those brushes after every use? Like you wear blue one day, next day in the morning you want to put on brown shadow, and at night green…do you wash those 3 brushes after every use?
My point is, when you have let’s say 10…15…or even more different colors of MAC, do you wash the brushes after every SINGLE use because odds are you won’t be wearing the same color every day.
I love MAC too. I use lots of their products, and have a few of their eyeshadows too. I have 4 eyeshadow brushes from MAC, 2 of each kind. I have the angular one and the rounded one (does that make any sense?), and a duplicate of each for backup (I'm always traveling). I usually wipe the brushes after use, and wash all my brushes every few times in soap and water to keep them clean. I don't think you need a lot, and once u get the technique down for the looks you're going for, all you need to do is maintain clean brushes, and you should be good to go.
I use MAC and only MAC. I absolutely love their foundation brush!!!
Anyway.....eyeshadow.......I use the MAC brushes and wipe them clean on a tissue before storing them. This is usually enough to keep the colours from contaminating each other. Once in two or three weeks I take all the brushes and wash them with gentle soap and water. MAC also have a "Brush Cleanser" but I haven't sprung for it yet.
If you find this an expensive approach, as MAC brushes, or any decent brushes don't come cheap, you can always buy the disposable sponges that come in a pack of like a zillion and just discard them after use. This is also a very sanitary method.
