Eyeshadow Base

Whenever I put on eyeshadows, they always crease or the color gets less intense/fades after a few hours. Now I have eyeshadows from MAC, Clinique, Este Lauder, Lancome, and Elizabeth Arden and ALL the brands do the same thing so I don’t think its the eyeshadow that needs to change.

Currently, under the eyeshadow, I use Clinique Touch Base for eyes in petal shimmer. I’m almost out of it and need to buy another one within a week or so.

Which eye shadow base would you girls recommend? I want something that will make the color intensity last for longer than just 2-3 hours. Price is not an issue with me. Oh and I would prefer a non-Walmart brand…the ones sold at malls. That way I can actually try it out before spending any $ on it.

Re: Eyeshadow Base

Creasing is sometimes caused by too much moisture on the lid, perhaps the touch base with foundation and moisturizer is casuing all the pores to be saturated thus the shadow just floats on the top?

Re: Eyeshadow Base

I have used foundation or concealer as a base for my eyeshadows but the problem stays the same.

When I use the touch base, I don’t put any foundation on the eyelids.

Or when I do put foudationt or concrealor on the lids, I don’t put any base.

I never put any moisturizer on the eyelids.

Oh ask those ladies behind the make-up counters. They are like PhD's in this face art.

Re: Eyeshadow Base

Well, I use Covergirl concealor all over, and when I wear it on my eyelids, my eye makeup stays...

Re: Eyeshadow Base

DO you apply ur shadow with abrush or sponge applicator?

Re: Eyeshadow Base

Who? me or lost?

Re: Eyeshadow Base

I like using cream eyeshadows they don't seem to crease as much as powders.

Re: Eyeshadow Base

do you have an oily skin?

Re: Eyeshadow Base

Most of the time I use the sponges that come with the eyeshadows, BUT if they don't come with sponges, then I use a brush(EX. MAC doesn't come with sponges). And I have the fading problem with both sponge and brush.

And yes, I do have oily skin. :(

I went to makeupalley and was reading reviews on bases. Lancome Aquitique shadow base seemed to get pretty decent reviews. Anyone here ever used it?

Re: Eyeshadow Base

It's probably becos ur skin is oily then. After using foundation, apply powder on ur eyelids also, or u can try skipping foundation and just use powder. Those oil-absorbing tissues work really well for oily skin types, so try blotting before applying makeup too.

Clinque is good, and i've heard good things about MAC too. Oh and i heard with the shimmery eye shadows, it's more common for u to get creases as the shimmer stuff bunches together in lines/creases.

Re: Eyeshadow Base

lost try BoomBam paint by MAC, it comes in a very small tube and you only need to apply a tiny bit of it before you do your eye makeup. try it, it works!

Re: Eyeshadow Base

There's an eyeshadow base you can get from Mary Kay dealers that works almost too well...you put on eyeshadow and it doesnt crease at all till you add cold-cream or makeup remover to get it off.

also I think Revlon makes "ColorStay" eye shadows....I've not tried those but the colorstay lipsticks really do stay on and on so I'm sure it would work with their eye color products as well.
