Eyeliner and Eyeshadow

Yes, this is an airheaded girly thread. Boys may leave without leaving their mark, thank-you. :snooty:

I need to get a nice eyeliner and eyeshadow. For work purposes. I was thinking of going with a smoky shade of grey and black eyeliner. It can go with anything I wear.

  1. Any other colors that can work? My skin is olive in tone. Think Iraj Manzoor.

  2. What brand eyeliner is good. I have one cheapo eyeliner from the dollar store, and it rubs so roughly across the skin. Then I have a liquid eyeliner from Avon as well, but I’m always so afraid to wash it off, since it gets in the eye. I need a pencil, but it must go on smooth. Not dry. I dont want the damn thing rubbing across my eyelid like nails on a board.

  3. The gray eyeshadow I’m looking for should not be too glitzy. Maybe a few sparkles. But I really want it to be dark and smokey. My eyelids, like many desis, are dark. What I normally do is rub foundation on the eyelid and THEN apply the eyeshadow. Even then, I want the color to come on strong. I have avon eyeshadows, but those colors don’t come on too strong.

Any pictures can help as well. Maybe put them up in images 3?

Thanks!

Re: Eyeliner and Eyeshadow

whos Iraj Manzoor?

Olive skin tone? erm..i dont know which eye shadow would work best as i'd need to see it..maybe green?

The best eyeliner i have come across is by Channel..it was about £14 when i brought it, havn't used anything else sinse...it lasts throughout the whole day, no need to reapply and is very very black,(im sure they do a variety of colours though) good for enhancing your eyes, i dnt even wear mascara anymore...no need.

For liquid eyeliner, i'v stopped using it, too smudgy. Bobby Brown do this granit thing which is like kajol, but in a pot thing, you need a very fine brush to apply it, but it gives the most amazing effect, just like liquid eyeliner but better as it lasts and no smudging.

As for the colur of your eyeshadow coming on strong... do you guys have "Benefit" in America? they do this really good creame thingy thing which you apply on your eyelids before putting your eyeshadow on and your eye make-up will never come off, it's really good, its called FYeyes or somthing...cant remember, it was about £17 but well worth it.

Re: Eyeliner and Eyeshadow

my fav liner is revlon brown/black-i like it better than the black-something abt t is just prettier

eyeliner is my staple...i have an addiction

ppl think its liquid on me, and its not

so thats what i reccommend...as for eyeshadow....hmmm on a day to day basis i use a clinique light brown or a covergirl gray...but i like to experiment with color so i have all sorts of crazy stuff-i like bringing out the colors of my clothes with my makeup :D

Re: Eyeliner and Eyeshadow

I love my Estee Lauder eye shadow -- it's a bit pricey, I think. About $20-25, but worth it. Their eye shadows are really nice. Oil of Olay used to make good shadows as well.

Re: Eyeliner and Eyeshadow

if you have an olive colored skin, pink.. light pink eye shades would suit you alot. and about eye liner.. whichever color but make sure it is water proof. i have tried many but one i got from nivea is the best. i still prefer to use that one. it's black. u can also try brown and i love navy blue eye liner with my blue lipstick. well, eye shades.. you can try sky blue color also... that's all i can think of without looking at your face.

sorry no pictures.

Re: Eyeliner and Eyeshadow

ive tried lots of liquid balck eyeliners

the best one that works for me is the one from body shop, it lasts all day and the applicator makes it really easy to get a nice straight line

Re: Eyeliner and Eyeshadow

Hmm I have tried Nivea liq liner and loved it. I also like eye pencil by Maybelline in black. It glides on really smooth and actually comes with a little brush on the other end of the pencil to give you a smudgy, smokey look. I love it!

Eyeshadows: I also have olive toned skin. I have discovered pink suits me best. The new, cream quad shadows by Maybelline. I love all their colors. Also, Ulta has some nice colors too.

I dont like to spend too much on makeup since I dont wear it much anyways. Thats why I stick with drug store brands. Plus on a student budget, I cannot alwyas afford dept store makeup.

Re: Eyeliner and Eyeshadow

all those "grocery" store brands never seem to apply smoothly to my eyelids. some of them look smashin, but are hard to find. most of them look horrid... coverage wise.

i dont know if any of you have tried mac... my friend refered me to them for eye make up & they have a large variety & they seem to apply well too.

Re: Eyeliner and Eyeshadow

yeh, this is what i meant..its called granit or something to that effect. Its really really good.

Why can’t you just go to a make-up counter and ask them what is good/bad. You don’t have to buy it if you don’t want. They’l know more of what your after and you’l be able to see the results for yourself without buying it first.

Re: Eyeliner and Eyeshadow

Eyeliner: Christian Dior - 09 Nior (Black) works the best for me, doesn't smudge or anything. Once in a blue moon I wear a sapphire color eyeliner by the same company.

Eyeshadow: Light bluish/silverish shade goes with almost anything.

Although I do think going simple looks the best, just use a black eyeliner and if you want some mascara. That'll bring out your eyes, using a lot of eyeshadow or dark colors for everyday use would just over do it.

Re: Eyeliner and Eyeshadow

I usually use browns and a light shimmery color to highlight The brow bone area

Re: Eyeliner and Eyeshadow

do any of u girls wear surma? does it last all day?
the application with the pointed stick thingy just freaks me out, im scared of poking my eyeball :S

Re: Eyeliner and Eyeshadow

did the surma thing…but for some people it last longer than others.

u just gotta be careful with the stick… kinda like contacts, just dont freak out

Re: Eyeliner and Eyeshadow

hhs :) i wear contacts and never had a problem with that, its a different kinda freaking out the stick does to me

can surma be bought from the uk?
