The title reminded me of a video that i find very helpful, especially if you’re doing make up on others, because he rapidly explains what type of eye make up looks good with a given eye shape
I never get the hype w/ Panacea/Lauren. Her skills are quite…novice. She’s good if you want looks using mainly one technique. If you want variety from a professional and learn techniques, I HIGHLY recommend these:
http://www.youtube.com/user/MakeupByTiffanyD?blend=1&ob=4 (she has some amazing teaching skills. Her looks are very “everyday” but still apply some good techniques, such as doing smokey eyes and other things which a makeup artist would only know)
http://www.youtube.com/user/lisaeldridgedotcom (she is brilliant because her work is very editorial/european. Not at all like the Kim Kardashian/Mila Kunis style of tutorials but really about concepts)
http://www.youtube.com/user/MakeupArtistLauren (she’s a makeup artist who uses mainly MAC so the looks are easy to replicate but she has very good techniques and teaches some awesome looks, mostly glam or OTT ones but great smokey/neutrals as well)
^Right? I find her quite boring and...meh. Nothing new when I watch her videos but I heard she was the first Youtube Guru and who basically started it all.
I imagine it would be hard to take college classes if a person hasn't spent the time learning the basics in high school. I see MU the same way. I agree that panacea is a "novice". She's a average woman who doesn't have "professional" training. Personally, that's what I like about her.
When I first started learning about applying make-up, I remember seeing the "professionals" and thinking to myself "ummm....yea....that's not happening with my pathetic skills". Panacea is a average, every-day woman who I could relate to. For people who are just starting to learn about MU, this is why I think she's a good "starter" tutor.
For someone who already knows all the basics and wants to learn advanced MU skills and is looking to do this at a "professional" level....of course then Panacea is not for them. But if a average woman wants to learn some simple techniques that will make her look good, then panacea is a great pick.
^That's not what I meant but I do get what you're saying. Think of MissChievous, she is not a pro either but her skills and looks in general are different, she has a certain style which I appreciate more over the slightly whimsical/kiddy looks I see Lauren do. And I could have sworn she was...Irish. Just checked her profile and she's from the UK!
...forgive my ignorance but do accents really range that much in the UK? I know there's a London accent, a Chav/Cockney accent :p and some other ones but I have never heard of a near-Irish one.
^Yeah, accents can vary a** lot** even within England itself.. A few really distinctive ones are Cockney/Chav, Essex (similar), Geordie, Yorkshire, Liverpool.. They're all a million miles from the stereotypical 'clipped' London accent that a lot of ppl abroad believe we speak :DIrish, Scottish and Welsh accented English sound v.different as well..

Ou, I see. So what kind of accent does the Queen/Royal family have? What about the YT gurus Pixiwoo and Lisa Eldridge? Just curious.
