eye pencil/crayons

Is it normal for the color to bleed under/around your eyes when you use eyepencils? I understand there will be some smudge factor but i usually look like having real bad eye circles after a few hours :bummer:

I use the Milani eye pencil or Maybelline crayon.

Re: eye pencil/crayons

Get it done professionally?

Re: eye pencil/crayons

use base- it sounds like your eyelids get oily and smear the pencil. mac has a really good eyeshadow base and it comes in a wide variety of skin colors. it also really holds eyeshadows and liners so theres no wrinkling or creasing or bleeding edges.

Re: eye pencil/crayons

legbreak, i am not sure what you are talking about getting done professionally? :bummer:

groovychick: i didnt realise there could be a base for eyeshadow as well? Is it like a primer? I really liek MACs primer as well. Anyhow, can it work as a concealer also or no?

Re: eye pencil/crayons

yup, you can get primer for eyes.
can it be used as a concealer? i dont see why not. you can always ask at the mac counter and find out for sure- i just know the primer i have is really good. its a tiny tube but you only use very little each time so it lasts forever and it stays put.

Re: eye pencil/crayons

I have the same problem…i love lining my eyes, but i always end up looking like a racoon …i use a concealer and do it then but still it doesnt work…what is the best way of lining your eyes? top and bottom??? PLEASE HELP!!! :hmmm:

Re: eye pencil/crayons

A tip for getting eye makeup to stay on all day long - is to use foundation and concealer as a base. It doesnt have to be a heavy foundation but maybe even a light tinted version. If not, maybe a concealer on it's own around eye area and lids.

What you want to do is apply some mosituriser on face, let it sink in then after few mins apply a dab of concealer under eyes and lids and on ay blemishes (if any), then either dust with pressed powder to seal or use foundation and then dust with the powder. After that apply pencil on your eyes and you will notice the whole look lasts longer than usual...

Re: eye pencil/crayons

Mysterious thats what i do and still end up looking like a racoon :( But i am going to try a primer or base for undereyes area now like groovy mentioned.

Re: eye pencil/crayons

Anyone ever use the gel eyeliner that comes in a pot by Bobbi Brown? It has really good reviews on makeupalley. Just wondering if you guys have tried it?

Re: eye pencil/crayons

Can u use the gel eyeliner inside the eye?

Re: eye pencil/crayons

I have tried the gel...but the only thing is that u can only manipulate it till the gel dries...and that its water proof...I wanted something like a pasty eye liner something that they use inPakistan's Salons...its just that with that kind u can use it like an eye line, for the brow, eyeshadow...wat not...almost like a paint.I know Depilex uses it and teaches their students to use the same...But anyway Mac's gel one doesnt provide the same thing..even though it looks kinda the same (eg it is in a small tub) :)...I just thought..I didnt help u a bit :D

One more thing...I used to use the eye pencils...I always used to end up with racoon eyes too:)...I also hard a friend say the same like mw did about dusting some sorta pwder underneath it!!

Re: eye pencil/crayons

i have the same problem Ira. eyelids that tend to get oily. i always smudge the eyeliner after applying with my finger tips so that its well blended and wont bleed as much. i have this bad habit of rubbing my eyes now and then and then i realize oh shyt i had eyeliner on.

Re: eye pencil/crayons

Femme, thats what i would like to know too if you can use this inside the eye. I sometimes line my inner eye on the bottom and outereye on the top, to compliment the kind of eyes i have. The reviews at makeupalley say the MAC one can be used on the waterline (not sure what that is). I think i will stop by either the MAC or Bobbi Brown store and ask.

Belle was talking about an eyeliner by Stila. Too many choices now :bummer:

Amber, htanks for your feedback but i am not sure what kind eyeliner they use in Pak. I am not sure what the look is like either :S

Sweeto, lemme know if you find anything that works for you.

Re: eye pencil/crayons

hi i have used the gel liners they are waterproof and can be used inside the eyes and outside, they dont budge and dont smudge, and u can use them as u wish fora think or thin line, stila do lots of colors. try them thyre abt £13 each. x x x

Re: eye pencil/crayons

I just wanted to update this thread. I have found a very good eyeliner that does not give me racoon eyes. I love everything else by MAC so not sure why i never used their pencils. Anyhow, its their pencil crayon and i have used it quite a few times with no smudgies. I have the color grey utility, not too dark and not too light for my eye/skin color.

FYI, for somene else needing the same thing.

Re: eye pencil/crayons

^thanks for sharing ...:)
i use eye pencils all the time but i have never had any problem with them...hmmmm...but i have the weird habit of rubbing my eyes without thinking...that causes the problem then...:(

Re: eye pencil/crayons

Ira, i have yet to use one of the "good" eyeliners but one day when i was wasting time at Sephora i tried some pencils by Makeup forever man oh man they felt so good going on, so smooth and silky. Usually if i get the Wet n Wild or cheap brand pencils they are so hard i wonder how anyone can even use them near their eyes

Re: eye pencil/crayons

Ira, I have the same issue- my eyes start tearing and the color runs all over :(

Re: eye pencil/crayons

i used to have that problem

i found out that its the makeup itself

you get what you pay for and should try better brands

long time ago I used to use revolon, maybelline, etc and i always had those dark circles form

now I use christian dior eye liner as well as makeup forever eye liner = never the same problem

you get what you pay for!!!

In Pakistan parlours use "cake-liners" with a very fine brush and unless u're a pro u won't be able to control the brush =) For all those that want their eye-makeup to stay in place.. use an eye-primer in a neutral color and lightly "dust" the area with loose powder and let it "set" for 5 mins. Then stretch u're eye at the corner (outer corner) and apply u're liner.. I use Mikayjy and I am VERY happy with it since it's very very black..

U need precision to apply the gel eye-liners (and time) and u have to stay put and not flutter u're lashes till it's dry! (quite a task!)
