since you feel that look was a bit too much you should try to curl your lashes and use a good mascara to add volume to them. Then when your eye is closed pull your eyelid and apply a thin amount of liner only to your lash line on the upper half. when i first started to wear liner that's how i did it and sometimes when i want a more natural look (but i don't want my big eyes to look bug eyed i do it bc without liner i'd like bug eyed). if you use covergirl's liners with the smudger on the other end it works out nicely you can take the smudger and smudge the outer corner of the line for a little extra drama. I would not use this pencil on your lower lash line as it will give you racoon eyes at the end of the day but on the upper lashes it works well.
it's kinda like the same thing you do when you do your lashes and then apply kajal...that same small sweep of color you know?
