Eye Creams.

How many of you use it? Which one? Does it work?

What age did you start using it?

I have heard mix things on the use of such preventive creams. Some say that if you start using it years ahed of the time you are to start getting these issues, it only activates your system for pre-age damage? Where as some say its always better to start using these preventive creams years ahead to stop the damage.

What’s the truth?

Re: Eye Creams.

I know some people who use eye creams and some that don't. I can't really say there is a major difference in ones that do. Some say there are benefits, some say they are myths.

It's never to late to start, I don't think there is anything out there that will totally stop the ageing process, but there is no harm in trying.

Personally think it's important to use an eye cream due to the fact the eye contour area is more delicate than the rest of the face. Normal face creams can be rather harsh if used in that area.

I've been using Guinot Longue Vie Yeax eye lifting cream for the past 2 years. I prefer it over the general drug store brands as they never settled with my skin.

Re: Eye Creams.

How do you know that you need these sorts of remedies?
What do you look for as signs?

Re: Eye Creams.

But what age is too early to start? That is what my question was.

Re: Eye Creams.

If it is an anti ageing specific product, then I guess you shouldn't really use it unless your + 25 yrs as the ingredients may not be suited/too harsh for anyone younger than this age.

Sun damage is** one **of the causes of premature ageing so a sunscreen should ideally be used all the time by everyone, teens ect.

Most people start using the stuff when they see the ageing signs, i.e start to lose elasticity of the skin, brown spots...

Re: Eye Creams.

I use Alpha Hydroxy Souffle 12% Glycolic on my entire face (including eye area) & neck.

I started using retin-a products when I was 27. But my skin is sensitive and I hated having to moisturize is sooooo much with Retin-A. So I switched to the Glycolic Cream which is much more gentler. I will probably go back on Retin-A when I’m in my mid to late 30’s (depending on how my skin is doing).

I don’t see anti-aging creams or other remedies as a means to ‘stop’ aging. I don’t expect to look like a 18 year old when I’m 50! However, when 50…it would be nice to look as if I’m 40. I see anti-aging consmetic devices as an aid to help me age gracefully…but in no means am I fooling myself into thinking that it will completely stop my skin from aging.

As for WHEN to start…here are my personal thoughts:
If you’re 27 or under…the only “anti-aging” aid you need is sun screen. Apply is anytime you’re outside. Stay out of the sun as much as possible. And basically eat healthy (greens/veggies), and drink plenty of water.

I think once you’re around 30, then you can start using some type of glycolic or retin-a product…but don’t go overboard. Don’t give in to the hype of all the ads for various creams. Actually research ingredients and figure out what works.

I think looking at our grandmothers/mothers is also a good indicator as to how we might age. Genes do play an important role I think.

Here’s an article that talks a little more about the “science” part of skin needs as we age:

Re: Eye Creams.

eye cream :konfused:

Re: Eye Creams.

Thanks. Good info! :k:

I agree, ofcourse nothing can make you stop aging and that’s perfectly fine. But some say the use of these fancy creams can prevent it to an extent but i don’t really know how much of even that is true.

I am gonna look up Alpha Hydroxy Souffle 12% Glycolic, sounds good :k:.

Re: Eye Creams.

eye creams usually contain the exact same ingredients as face creams, people who tell you you need to use something different are just people trying to sell, eye creams also contain a high dosage of alcohol, phenoxyethanol, and other harsh ingredients so make your reasearch before you buy any.
i find shea butter at night works great for hydrating, and cornflower water helps with puffiness
i personally use the biotherm multisomething gel, it has vitamine E and gingeng and i do see a difference because it lightened my dark circles (must be the vitamine E) but it's quite expensive :(

Re: Eye Creams.

As long as you got the premature aging covered, I believe the whole idea of graceful aging really depends on your diet, lifestyle and genetics.

Instead of using eye creams in my 20's, I rather just carry on taking the usual good care of my skin.

Re: Eye Creams.

Well, yes…some do “prevent” signs of aging. For example: Retinol is actually proven to prevent and diminish existing fine wrinkles.

I would recommend you do research on retin a (or products containing retinol), and also glycolic acid. Please keep in mind that both of these ingredients make your skins very sensitive to the sun so if you’re using these, sunscreen is a MUST.

I also know people who do at home glycolic acid and lactic acid peels (you can buy these online). I used to do glycoic acid peels at home but haven’t in a while. I may switch to lactic acid peel next time I order. You may want to read about these too.

Re: Eye Creams.

I haven’t found one that works for me yet. Though, I really haven’t been trying any lately either. I most recently tried the Lancome Eye Serum, but it dried my eyes out horribly!

Re: Eye Creams.

When choosing your wrinkle cream you will want to choose one that is right for your skin type. Not all creams are made the same. Some are made of purely natural products and others are made for people who need something hypoallergenic. It is very important to know exactly which type of anti-aging eye product is safe to use as eyes are quite sensitive and precious and you cannot take any risks in this regard.
