extra-curricular activities

Besides playgroup or preschool, how do your young children (under 5) spend their day? Is it usually focused on one favorite toy/activity or do you vary it deliberately? ugh..mods, please edit the title to spell extra-curricular correctly. My brain is not functioning today.

Re: extra-curricular activities

We do puzzles, coloring, play doh, doodling on doodle board, reading books, listening nursery rhymes, helping mama with house chores, grocery shopping, matching games, playing with ball, playing in the bean bucket, etc. So no, he is never glued on one activity or toy nor do I focus on one activity toy. I will start taking him to the library hopefully more regularly next week.

^^ all that jazz.

Re: extra-curricular activities

You’d be surprised how much you can do with them during the day.

extra-curricular activities

Lusi pretty much nailed it, but I’ll add this…When my kids were toddlers/pre school age, I would have them mimic whatever I was doing…they had their own toy vacuums and would follow me around vacuuming…if I was in the kitchen, they would play with plastic bowls…I’d have them pretend dust whatever was at their level…I worked from home, so if I had paperwork or a call to attend to, I’d have them do “paperwork” also lol

Re: extra-curricular activities

Pretty much what Khatti and Lusi said.

Now that it’s warmer outside we do lots of outdoor play.
Blowing bubbles, finger painting on the deck, running around barefoot in the grass :stuck_out_tongue: Chalk on the side walk! My older one loves this!!
We do weekly trips to the library. They usually have story time once or twice a week and my kids love it so we make sure to attend those.

Re: extra-curricular activities

Those are such good ideas! My baby is forever trying to handle the vacuum when I’m using it. Im gonna buy him one of his own now.

He’s always playing with pots and pans too when I’m cooking. he puts his cheerios in the patelli and stirs it around with his spoon lol.
