There is a storm brewing across Punjab but we have no policy of nipping problems in the bud. Every major city of Punjab is witnessing a silent but steady growth of extortion but all energy of the government seems to be going into roads, overhead bridges and underpasses. Businessmen in Multan, Lahore, Rawalpindi and even Peshawar have received extortion demands.
Punjab Police recently said that "there is nothing to worry because in no incident any extortion demand was met or the money was collected. Since no damage has taken place, it's better to ignore extortion calls."
I don't know just when we will become proactive.
