**Export of precious stones to be raised to $1.50bn **PESHAWAR ( 2007-12-25 18:18:30 ) : The government has chalked out a policy to enhance export of precious and semi- precious stones up to 1.50 billion dollars annually during the next ten years.
The official of Pakistan Gems and Jewelry Development Company while talking to APP informed that international demand for the Pakistani made jewellery and precious stones are increasing day by day.
He said that government is planning to enhance to export of the semi precious and precious stones during the next ten years up to 1.50 billion dollars per annum which stands at 40 million dollars presently.
He maintained that nature has bestowed the country with the wealth of precious stones and its reserves are located at NWFP, FATA and Balochistan.
Moreover, he went on to add that in order to boost this sector the government has initiated a number of development projects across the country for excavation of precious stones.
