**Pakistani police have discovered a large amount of ammunition and 1,500 kg of explosives during a raid in the eastern city of Lahore, police said.**The recovery was made from a shop in the Iqbal Town area. Police said the shop owner has been arrested.
The Iqbal Town district was hit by a series of low intensity blasts on Friday night, hours after twin suicide bomb attacks killed at least 45 people.
It was the second major bombing in Lahore in the space of a week.
“We have recovered innumerable machine-gun and Kalashnikov rounds, 16 grenades, some are big and the others are small,” news agency Reuters quoted Lahore police chief Pervez Rathore as saying.
“The bomb disposal squad has defused them in front of everyone. We have also recovered jackets and there were grenades attached to these jackets. Lahore police have recovered this cache of arms during a search and sweep operation,” he added.
Mr Rathore said police raided the shop after a tip off.
Friday’s suicide attacks targeted military vehicles as they passed through a crowded area.
