BAGHDAD, Iraq - Two suicide attackers wearing women’s cloaks blew themselves up Friday in a Shiite mosque in northern Baghdad, killing at least 46 people and wounding scores, police said. It was the second major attack against Shiite targets in as many days.
For details you can click the link above. I wonder who is REALLY benefitting from these explosions? Is beKayeda really benefitting by killing opposing sect? Are Muslims benefetting in general by killing their own kind? Is Bush getting popular/advantage? Who is the REAL benefittor from these explosions killing Iraqis?
It's really disgusting seeing people do this, especially in a house of God. Let's pray that there isn't civil war, which is exactly what the people who carried out this disgusting act want. They want Shias to react and vice versa. They want a war. Thank God it hasn't happened yet, but I fear it is only a matter of time.
I don't see anybody benefiting from these acts. Everybody involved loses in some way or another.
Actually yes a few countries due gain. Iran gains with an unstable iraq as it can proceed to extend its influence to the rest of the arab world. Iran see's itself as the champion of Shia's in the Middle East.
The US wins. That is pretty obvious. It extends their stay in Iraq and gives them a military base as large as any in the US to be the launch pad for any future actions in the middle east. They have 3 airfields, 3 military camps and 2 ports. That is enough for a full scale war in the middle east.
yes Grumpy.. Iran sees itself as a champion of Shias which is why they're bombing the Shias of Iraq to smithereens!!..
great logic!
The US doesn't win anything.. they have enough bases in that area to waste their time on Iraq.. it's not that strategic a location once Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey are all available..
Someone else wins by keeping US forces between them and Iran.
Actually incorrrect PA. Have you heard the speeches made after 1979? The revolution brought alot of issues that plague the Shia community in the middle east to light. An example who controls the oil in Saudi Arabia? The Shia miniority which is at 20% of the population. A shia majority in Iraq which is already heavily influenced by Iran will add to Saudi Arabia's problems, as well as Qatar and Bahrain.
Iran has always wanted to be the Champion of the Shia Minority. That is why they match funding the Saudi's put into Pakistan. Sectarian violence in Pakistan is funded by both sides.
Additionally Iraq as the largest untapped oil reserves after Russia and it provides a secure channel of oil flow. Remember the problems that happened when Gwadar was being built. The US took great exception to that. This is a means to check Iran, Syria and control oil supply in the Middle east. It also forums a base of operations for all action in the Middle East and Asia.
You are throwing mixed information now. What is the correlation of Shia population controlling Saudi oil to Iraq to Iran championing Shias? Iran is actually much better off with stable Iraq I believe because now Shias in Iraq will/can form the government and who do you think they will lean towards?
