Re: Explosion at Red Mosque in Islamabad
The suicide bomber of this attack have been identified. Hats off to the investigators to comb through and identify the guy and his mentors. In fact, Pakistani police have been doing a good job of catching many of these attackers ahead of time and also of identifying them and their group after their dirty deeds.
Not surprising is the fact that the bomber was a Mehsud teenager. However, the report of this Qari Hussain meeting him and brain-washing him to become a suicide bomber in a matter of days is a bit of a surprise. I wish the report had more about his and his family/friends activities and background in Karachi.

Aabpara suicide attack: Suicide bomber’s brother sent from Karachi to Isb
By Faraz Khan
KARACHI: A Karachi intelligence agency picked up the brother of the suicide bomber who blew himself up at Aabpara, Islamabad, on June 27. He was handed over to the Islamabad law enforcement agencies, Daily Times has learnt.
“Noorul Islam is not responsible [for it] nor is he a criminal but he was picked up for DNA testing and handed over to the CID Islamabad and will be released soon,” an official told Daily Times on the condition of anonymity, adding that the suicide bomber was identified as Khana Deen, 16. He was living with his family at Quaidabad, Karachi for many years. He used to work at the marble factory in Manghopir and his father is a retired policeman, now a taxi driver. Deen hailed from the Mehsud tribe, Waziristan.
His mother went to her family in Waziristan and Deen went with her and spent 10 to 15 days there. Then he went missing. The officer added that the hometown of Qari Hussain, a second commander of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Chief Baitullah Mehsud, is just ten to fifteen minutes away. Qari Hussain met him and persuaded him to become a suicide bomber, the police believe. After almost a month and a half of going missing, he went on the attack.
Deen’s brother, Noorul Islam, went to Waziristan to find his brother when their mother told him that Deen was missing. He failed to locate his brother and returned to Karachi. He heard about him only on television.
At least 14 people, including seven policemen, were killed and over 50 were injured in the explosion on June 27 at Aabpara Chowk near Lal Masjid, after baton-wielding students of the Jamia Fareedia Madrassah and congregation members loyal to the slain Abdul Rashid Ghazi and former prayer leader Maulana Abdul Aziz occupied the mosque briefly and demanded Aziz’s return.
Deen came out and shouted Allah-ho-Akbar before blowing himself up. The police claimed it had found body parts of the bomber, including his head.
