ok, so I belong to a Syed family, and there are certain members of our khandaan who think this puts us “above” others, as we’re considered direct decendents of the Prophet (PBUH), but in my opinion, that is totally ridiculous. It is totally against the teachings of Islam, and this is a social evil that needs to be eradicated from South Asian mentatlity/culture!!

as I have been born and raised here in the US, i’m not completely familiar with different Paki “castes”, but I know that my sister married into a “Delhi-Wale” family and they have different sub-castes/ “biradari” I guess you could say such as “Punjabi Saudagaran” (which is what my bro-in-laws family belongs to)..

Others I’ve heard of are Chiniotis, which I’m not sure exactly what/who they are..can anyone explain this one to me?

And then there are Khojas as well, if I’m not mistaken…
