Expiry dates

How many of you don’t bother (much) with them?

I’ll let it go if its a day past its date. Like Milk or bread or in some cases coffee. But I’ll try not to.

Its never affected me, getting unwell wise I mean. What about you?

Re: Expiry dates

We have to be careful with food and it's expiry date over here because of the hot climate/weather. It matters less if you are in a cold or relatively less hotter region. If the bread is outside and it's expired, we give it to the birds. If the bread is in the fridge and it has just been one day that it expired then we might eat it. Same with milk. Anything that has been left outside the fridge by accident, we dispose of it, don't want to take the risk. Viruses and bacteria etc brew in these conditions.

Re: Expiry dates

i avoid using things which has expired !!!

Re: Expiry dates

Milk and bread are probably the only thing because it's easy to check. Milk can be warmed up in the microwave or stove to check if it's still ok. (That or you can smell it if it has gone bad.) Bread I'll have past the expiry date, as long as it's still soft and not mouldy.

Re: Expiry dates

If its milk in the fridge. 2-3 days are fine.
Yogurt even a week is fine.
Bread if outside then I'll throw it away but if it was in the fridge then 1 week is fine. Any sort of bread that is.
Chocolates. I have had chocolate that was a year old. It was a bit dry but still tasted yummy.
Canned goods go in trash.
