Does it really matter if contacts are expired? my contacts were suppose to expire last month, yet i still wear them now n again with no problems i dont wear them daily jus one day then leave them for 2-3weeks, i still hav half a bottle of solution left, If i buy some more solution when its runs out, do you think it’l be ok or not? or shall i get some more? (these are non prescription lenses jus coloured ones)
Mods-:sorry if this thread has been done b4 i cudnt find one if there has been please bring that one up thanks
PLSSSSSSSS for God's sake dont take such stupid risks with something as imp as yr eyes. And sorry bt dnt ask dumb questions if it matters or not, OFCOURSE it does otherwise why wud it even come with an expiry date?
Socho yar. Throw them out ASAP.
Thank-You.
p.s i'm sorry if u feel im overreacting, its just that i have seen so many peole i know loosing their eye cuz of this same stupidity. Misusing the lenses n nt knowing the rules of using it.
calm down luv, like i said they r monthly ones, yet it says on the instructions that * it depends how many days you wear them* as in if you havnt worn them for the whole 3 weeks then doesnt matter. And i havnt i've worn them MAXIMUM a week not even that.. Still throw them away?
MB i have used lenses for few yrs but not these monthly ones. Not sure but be careful with ur eyes. Once one of my lenses caused infection in my eye too, and believe me it was very painful. I bought new and more expensive ones after that. lastly went for laser treatment. Now i dont use them anymore :D
if you use monthly disposable contacts, but havent been wearing them everyday, you can continue using them for upto 2 months easily. just make sure theyre being stored properly.

I way using expired lenses once and it broke in my eye. I went to doctor and he had to use diluting solution to get it out. SO its a no from my side.
there's a difference between lenses being "expired" and wearing monthly's for more than a month.
wearing monthly's for more than a month after opening them (if you only wear them a few times a week) is okay as long as you clean them well and don't wear them more than 30 days in total. they get crap on them, it builds up, possibly bacteria too, so you don't want to keep them hanging around for ages. even if i didn't wear them 30 days, i wouldn't keep them more than 2 months from opening.
if the lenses are past their EXPIRY DATE on the packet (this is usually a few years) then throw them away.
Well theres no expiry date on them i jus counted a month to when i first opened them. I jus basically wanna know wether i can wear them for a few more days or whatever without any problems or jus throw them and get new ones i also have like half a bottle of solution left... There always kept in the eye contact case with fresh solution, every time i wear them i put new solution in the lenses so there clean when i wear them.
Hi i have contact too that i am supposed to dispose of every two to three weeks. I went to my eye dr and the last appointment he asked how long those lenses had been in my eyes. Mind you i take my lens out each night and store them with fresh solution in the dish. He said for disposables the lens can be woren for longer period of time. He said that I could wear them as long as they are truly "not expired," beyond the two recommended weeks, but once the power starts going to throw them away and take out a new paid. Hope that helps!

There's always an expiry date on the foil in the plastic container they come in.
The stuff you are doing is standard; people still get eye infections even following protocol. They are probably okay (as long as they haven't passed the use by date) to keep wearing for another month or two. But again, don't use them more than 30 uses.
