My mother in law just left for karachi!!!
Im sooooo nervous about my wedding outfit
Anyone who has experience with boutiques like rhimjhim, jabeens, shakeels and the like please share so that i can give my mother in law exact details of where to get what…
I read your post @somegroovychick the one where you gave details of your shopping experience… It was very helpful:) i took screenshots and sent them to my mother in law:)
Any more shopping experience and pictures is what i am looking for:)
Re: Experience with bridal boutiques!!!
Honestly can't go wrong with Rim Jhim or Jabeens! I don't have experience with Shakeel's but Shahina Zubeiri is always worth a visit too.
Don't worry- there are lots and lots of places in Karachi and lots of options to choose from, and most people do NOT shop or wear designer clothing on their weddings locally. It's just on GS or the very rich in Pakistan that you will find joras over 2 -3 lakh. This forum is kind of like a bubble giving an unrealistic little worldview because most of us live abroad and have dollars to spend. :)
Did you send fabric swatches of which colours you wanted with MIL? They can dye the outfit any shade when they are making it.
Re: Experience with bridal boutiques!!!
No i havent sent any fabric swatches... I just sent loads of pictures about what exactly i want...
Going for either an off white/cream or blush...
Thankfully my MIL and i share very similar thoughts on how the wedding dress should be, and i have full faith that she will select a very pretty jora, but for some reason im still a big bundle of nerves!!!

Hahahhah very true @somegroovychick but having a designer outfit is every brides dream ;)
I even considered going for a home based designer but after reading the husn e afza thread i decided to stick with the boutiques... At least i will not have to deal with an unreliable designer

totally understandable!
the best part about working with boutiques is that usually they have a huge array of ready made dresses that you can choose from and customize. at least you'll know what it looks like mostly (sans the colour you've chosen if its not in an offwhite or cream, of course) but in terms of style and kaam. when we took SIL to jabeen's, they even had three different kinds of lehenga bottoms for her to try on- mermaid, straight, and a-line, so she was able to put the shirt on and select which bottom style she wanted. it was a super easy process overall. i also had my clothes made from them and it was a matter of picking out a jora, giving them the swatch i had taken, and then eliminating the kaam until it was in my budget and to my liking. bada bing, bada boom! i knew what i was getting and i was more than happy to pay for it! inshAllah your MILs shopping for you will be just as smooth and stress-free!

That sounds like a dream come true for someone visual like me! Do you know of any such places in Lahore? I don't have anyone in Karachi so all these places I keep hearing about (Jabeen's , Rhim jhim) are a no go for me unfortunately :(
Re: Experience with bridal boutiques!!!
Sorry, hon, I'm not familiar with Lahore at all :(
Anyone else?
Re: Experience with bridal boutiques!!!
I have had really good experience with Shakeels' ... I have 4 formal dresses from them ... and my in laws' bridals were by them ... all very nice ... better than many designers in terms of kaam and material quality. Even my formals are still in great condition after wearing multiple times to various weddings / dholkis. Personally if I can't get Bunto, Dr HAroon or Mrs Kazmi, I would go for Shakeel's.

this is their page in GS (Shakeel’s boutique Tariq Road Khi), there are pics so you can see their work: http://www.paklinks.com/gs/wedding/561598-shakeels-boutique-in-tariq-road-2.html
