Expectations on Forums

Well, it is best not to expect anything from anyone on internet, but it is human nature to develop expectations with time. I have learned a lot from a number of members on this forum due to which I have great respect for them and I specially read their sincere opinions in their posts (A lot of them might not know this). Even if they disagree in any thread, they do it with respect, logic and sincerity.

A couple of members I have learned to avoid with time, specially the ones who likes to stoop to the level of personal attacking and disrespecting.

BUT today I really feel hurt, because I feel like saying something which I never thought I would ever have to bear the pain in saying this about “that” member:

“I am really disappointed in that member”

@ Toipc. Do you tend to expect certain way of answers, attitude, positivity / negativity, way of thinking, way of talking…etc. from any person / member after you share and learn ideas on different topics.

Re: Expectations on Forums

May be you should talk to that member in detail.

Re: Expectations on Forums

Well, I would have if I had a doubt in what actually were the intentions of that person. But a sarcastic way of making sure that one offends another person "personally" leaves no room for detailed discussion.

Re: Expectations on Forums

STP: I totally understand where you are coming from. But sometimes even the most logical, patient, and considerate person has a bad day and can't really deal with online nonsense, and instead just wants to rant and attack. Just consider it an aberration in that person's otherwise thoughtful behavior.

Brother STP do not get disheartened it all comes with the territory. Please read my rant and advice in this thread titled:

Re: Expectations on Forums

It happens to all of us to a greater or lesser degree... we may say something to make a point without realising that it may hurt people's feelings... what would be really sad is if what he/ she said was done so intentionally.

Re: Expectations on Forums

JazakAllah Khair everyone for the kind words of wisdom.

I would insha'Allah consider and act upon your reasonable and logical views.

May Allah (swt) bless you all and your families with all the blessings of this life and hereafter.
