So in regards to the upcoming movie “The exorcism of Emily Rose”, I was thinking about something. I know that we as muslims accept the existence of jinns and demons both good or bad. I’m more or less interested in the super natural and I want to know what’s Islam’s take on spiritual possession?
I know in most sects of Christianity its accepted and taken seriously regardless of how weird it is but in general (concerning the 3 religions) does exorcism of jinn’s and demons actually work? Also how is it done in Islam? I know some sects do it with the whole smoke and powder and steps over something and I’m somehow doubtful of how that works but anyways in the case of something like that happening, how do muslims deal with it?

One of my cousin was doctor at mantel hospital Lahore.
Once took me for a round there. He took me on the second floor showed me patients and told me those were the people if left out would be considered possessed.
They show all those symptoms of being possessed-- too much power, eating like crazy, making strange noises etc etc
He said there is no such thing as being possessed.
You whats funny ?? same cousin when he was young. He went to his village. there he got out/alone at mid nite while walking to home. He actually saw some kind of strange entities dancing around fire.
He was sick for long time after.
But he is oldest of our cousins for out of respect I never asked him about that incident.
