Exorcism in islam

Exorcism is mainly thought of as the rite of driving out the Devil/JINN and his demons from possessed persons.
Have you ever seen someone whos posessed in real life?
Are there muslim maulvis who can help a person whos possessed?
I heard recently in italy they started offering classes to catholic priests to perform exorcism. They started doing after a sharp rise in cases of satanism practice in italy this year.

Re: Exorcism in islam

not me but my mom told us a story of her cousin who was about 13 and came to visit them. everyone noticed that while playing, this cousin used to suddenly start screaming in a starnge thick accent and running after other kids to beat them up. and he had to be tied down to stop him and while screaming and stuff, he'd get a "tear" in one of his eyes and fall unconcious. and when he'd wake up, he wouldnt remember himself doing all that. everyone was pretty upset at what was wrong with him and why he was doing that. one day my mamoo was taking milk from "doodhwala" at the gate and this cousin was standing there. that doodhwala asked my mamoo who that guy was. when he told him, he told my mamoo that his cousin was posessed. my mamoo told that doodhwala abt what had been happening and asked him what they could do. he said he could help them and promised to come the next morning to take care of that.

my mom said that that doodhwala held my cousin from his (i dont remember which) finger and started reciting some ayahs (i dont remember if she said he waited him to get into that condition or he just did that to him). the cousin started screaming and babbling as usual in his thick accent and suddenly.... he said, "chor do mujhe, chor do mujhe, chor do mujhe" in that thick accent. that doodhwala asked him who he was. he said some strange name. he said why he posessed that guy. he said cz he walked passed some stuff lying on the road. he told him to leave the guy alone and to leave some "sign" to assure them that he has left. suddenly they saw the cousin falling into unconciousness and some brick from the house dropped on the floor.

after that the cousin never experienced that.

Re: Exorcism in islam

have heard somethings like that too - nothing authentic though ...
Jinns do exist.
The question whether they COME over some person is mostly based on odd incidents with no solid reasoning... Mostly these are made up stories.

Re: Exorcism in islam

are there any video/audio proof of somene who was possesed?

dont u think if jinns could possess a human, then there wouldve been videos and audio files of that person or exorcism being performed all over the internet!

Re: Exorcism in islam

Re: Exorcism in islam

One of my friends in the UK was a Kurd who was always one of those more "modern" muslims , not all that observant of Islam, often sceptical and "liberal" etc, but one thing of which he had no doubt was that there were jinns out there and that they could posess people.

In his childhood, his late grandfather was a prominent sheikh in the Kurdish part of Turkey and people would come to him with family members who they said were posessed by jinns. This friend said that he remembered these people acting complete crazy, then his grandfather would start reciting certain ayahs and duas. The subject of the exorcism would trash around for a while, then be back to their normal selves since the jinns had left.

I have known this friend for a very long time and have never had any reason to doubt anything he's ever said, so I buy into his story totally. It really came back to me in detail at the start of Constantine :D

Re: Exorcism in islam

Sorry Nilu :flower1:

It was just amusing.

LUC - I believe and understand the existance of Djin and they can cause effects on people.
But in our part of the world, every psychological illness is usually termed as Saya or Djin due to ignorance and Jahalat.

I know evil people do cause a lot of trouble for others, by doing jadoo etc.

Furqan - It is good development that Exorcism is being taught as a proper subject :k:
In pakistan, there are people who do this just for the sake of Allah and humanity, but they are heavily out numbered by evil and corrupt ones.
