Re: Exorcism in Christianity ?
Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word. 20
Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will. 21
Psalm 103:20; Psalm 103:21
The Old Man – I think we have a problem here. The above verses of the Bible clearly imply that the angels **obey His Word and do His Will ** – thus implying that the angels have no will of their own but to carry out the Will of their Lord (God).
Now, as according to you, if the angels do have free will of their own, as we humans do, then surely by exercising their will against the command of God, they are messing up His Will by not implementing His Will as He had attended.
In Islam, angels are a creation whose mere existence is to carry out the Will of God dutifully without any discrepancy. As another poster has stated earlier, the angels are made of Light.
Jinn on the other hand are a creation which has been given free will and have a parallel existence to mankind and will have to account for its Beliefs and actions. The Jinn are created out of fire, just as the humans are made out of elements of earth.
Muslims have no concept of fallen angels; the demons and Satan (Lucifer) are from the Jinn.
Re: Exorcism in Christianity ?
According to your reasoning anyone who obeys God’s Word and do His Will do not have a free will? According to Jesus “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”, everyone needs to become like angels (your quote), by not having a will of their own, otherwise they can not be saved. Surely this is not logic?
One can have a free-will but can still place it under someone else (or curtail it’s use) out of your own free will. The will remains still free.
Correct! It is to rebel against God and that is exactly what Satan and other angels did. They therefor will also be punished. See for reference Ezekiel 28 and Revelation 12.
And this is what I mentioned earlier which is a difference between the two faiths. For what it is worth, Judaism has the same view as Christianity on this issue.
